Anita Marie Monteil-Temple, April 5, 1950 – August 26, 2022. Anita passed away suddenly on Aug. 26. For those of you who know Anita, I am sure you can agree her personality and presence was huge with a heart to match. From her proud Creole heritage, her unyielding, strong Catholic faith and upbringing, Anita was always steadfast in her opinions on all topics including music, movies, history, family and yes, even politics. You always knew where she stood. Sometimes you were in agreement, oftentimes not. Anita moved to Sun Lakes in the summer of 2015 after the passing of her beloved husband Richard. Once she settled into her new home, she became a Delegate for District 4 for two years. She enjoyed meeting all the new and seasoned Sun Lakes residents and neighbors. Several years after her move to SLCC, she serendipitously reconnected with her very first ever boyfriend from high school Charles Tizano, also a Sun Laker. She and Charles enjoyed catching up on their friendship, reminiscing about their history, their puppy love as teens, their families, and old friends. Anita was a patriot and a cheerleader for the country she loved. She enjoyed Creole cooking, entertaining family and friends, traveling, working in her garden, and doing lots of do-it-yourself projects. Anita loved music and enjoyed going to our clubhouse, especially for events on the Veranda. She hardly ever missed enjoying and dancing to Renee Rojanero, her favorite entertainer. Anita will be greatly missed by all her many friends and family. Forever in the hearts of her daughter Cherisse, son Vincent, Charles, and the absolute love of her life, her beautiful granddaughter Brookie. The very hardest goodbyes are the ones we don't get to say. It's as if she suddenly vanished, leaving only the lasting memory of our friendship. Rest in eternal peace. Jo Ann "Jo" Taylor, peacefully passed away on August 6 after a prolonged respiratory illness. A resident of Sun Lakes since 1994, Jo and her husband Lyndon moved here from Yorba Linda in Orange County, California. Jo was active in the Art League, serving as President and teaching watercolor classes as well as competing in numerous art shows both in our community and outside. Jo was recognized as both an excellent watercolorist and an outstanding teacher of art. She was also an award winning photographer. She was a past President of the RV Club, and together with her husband, enjoyed traveling in their motorhome throughout the United States. An accomplished business woman, she was the CEO of a craft jewelry business with 53 outlets throughout the country. She and her husband also owned and operated ChildCare USA, a child development business with several centers in Southern California. Jo had musical talent, playing the piano, the accordion, and the French Horn. She was a tournament level United States Tennis Association competitor for over 40 years, winning several titles in both singles and doubles. Her crowning achievement was as the founding Director of the Cypress College Dental Hygiene Program. Combining both her Dental Hygiene training and her business skills, she developed this program that rapidly became the number one Dental Hygiene program in the United States. She loved gardening and cooking and was a former President of the Garden Club in Yorba Linda. She was also on the Boards of Directors of several civic, university and business organizations. She held a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science, a Master's Degree in Business, an advanced degree from the USC Dental School, and did advanced studies at both Claremont Graduate School and Western State University Law School. Her absence will reverberate in the lives of her husband, their two children, her extended family, and friends. | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2022 | 69
