30 | OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2022 | The Travel Club Board remains very excited about all the activities and trips we have planned for the remainder of 2022 and the start of 2023! • Oct. 10 - Our Social Hour starts at 6:30 pm with light refreshments in Abravanel Hall, then there will be a short meeting to elect the Board for 2023. Afterward, our Club President, Callie Dean, will present highlights from her African Safari, with a focus on the conservation of the animals. • Oct. 13 - We are off to Los Angeles to tour the Academy of Motion Pictures Museum and the Petersen Automotive Museum and enjoy a lunch (on your own) at LA's famous Farmers Market. This trip is SOLD OUT; wait list only. • Nov. 14 - Join us in Abravanel Hall for our Travel Club Annual Party. The theme is Americana! We will start with a dinner served by L&L Hawaiian Barbecue and follow our dinner with the Installation of our 2023 Travel Club Board. • Dec. 12 - We will be traveling to Riverside for a lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory and a guided tour of The Mission Inn, which will be decorated with over four million lights. This trip is SOLD OUT; Wait list only. • Jan. 17, 2023 - We start at LA's Farmers Market for lunch and then we will have a two-hour guided tour of the Paramount Pictures studio lot in seven person carts and a visit to a Sound Stage and the prop warehouse. Complete information about each of our trips is on the flyers available in the Clubhouse. Regarding our wait lists, we frequently have people on a trip who have plans that change and need to cancel. So, many people on our wait lists actually do get the opportunity to go on the trip, replacing those who need to cancel. Sign up for a trip/party/wait list by leaving a check, with proof of vaccination attached (if you have not already submitted it), made out to the OH Travel Club and put it in the Travel Club Envelope at the Clubhouse Front Desk. Add $5 to the price if you are not a member of the Travel Club. We certainly hope you will come and join us at one of our events! Your Travel Club Board: Callie Dean, Donna Wessel-Graham, Lynn Opelka, Amy Blount, and Judy Buoniconti Travel Club Classes are on Tuesdays 12:30 to 3 pm and on Thursdays 10 am to 12:30 pm. For info, email me at jo.linda.marr@gmail.com. stained Glass Woodchucks The Woodchucks take great pride in making sawdust for our community. We have built many wheelchair ramps for those in need of a smoother entrance. Homes feel a little safer with the window security-rods we supply. Our campus is full of projects provided by our skilled members. OHCC social clubs turn to our little shop to help with decorations, AV projects, and signs. This month we had the fun of creating a brochure rack for the terrific new Monarch Butterfly Club. Pictured is one of our enthusiastic Woodchucks, Dale Wills, putting some finishing touches on wooden pieces for the Racquet Club's Game Day Party. Sometimes our projects will help the entire community. Pictured is a model of a Lanai concept that was created to aid discussions as the Lanai Committee studies different ideas. A fun project that many of our members thought would make a great kitty house! We never know what our next challenge will be, but just know the Woodchucks very much appreciate the woodshop and will continue to "pay it forward."
