8 | OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2022 | Let's help Oceanside "get it right, be watertight." The city of Oceanside has begun to install WaterSmart meters at all homes and businesses. This upgrade uses technology to safely and accurately promote water readings to customers on a more frequent basis instead of an in-person monthly manual water meter reading by a staff member. This project will help the utility better address drought conditions by allowing customers to take quicker action when leaks are identified. For more information, see www.Oceanside.WaterSmart.com The San Diego County Water Authority offers several free three hour on line workshops taught by a local landscape design professional focusing on a "do it yourself " approach to landscape design, maintenance, soils, turf types, and removal tips, plant selection, rainwater catchment, irrigation, and project installation. For more information, see www. sdcwa.org/your-water/conservation/classes/ Rebates and incentive programs are still available for high efficiency toilets, clothes washers, sprinkler nozzles, and turf replacements. For more information, see www.socalwatersmart.com Lastly, since every drop counts, please sweep paved surfaces rather than use a hose, limit irrigation to 10 minutes per sprinkler station and only irrigate three times weekly between 6 pm and 10 am. Avoid water run off or overspray, use a hand-held nozzle with a shut-off, and stop water use of ornamental and decorative fountains unless water is recirculating. Landscape Committee The CIMC continues to work with the Butterfly Club to improve their sanctuary with new signage and two new brochure racks. The workout room has new updated wall photographs to replace the old pictures. We do ask that residents do NOT remove them from the wall as they can be damaged and will be hung higher when wired differently. Behind the scene, our maintenance staff continues to work on several identified clubroom needs by sprucing up walls, woodwork, paint and other touch ups. CIMC has worked with the Landscape Committee to freshen up the grounds around Inspiration Hill, and has also recommended that the newest branch of the U.S. military be recognized on the hill as well… hopefully you can check it out by the time this issue is distributed! As the attention must remain on the completion of our golf course, lanai and HVAC, we are beginning our review and discussion of OHCC's Brand Identity & Style Guide as adopted in 2016. The CIMC focuses on many aspects in our community that benefit all residents, so please consider becoming a member of CIMC in 2023 and share your expertise.
