30 | THE COLONY NEWS | NOVEMBER 2022 | Wondering what's new in the world of pickleball? On Oct. 4, Terry Mata and Scott Ross were awarded silver medals in their respective age groups after competing in the Oldlympics that were held in Hemet on Sept. 18. Eighty players competed in the pickleball event, and we are all very proud of our medalists! Following our tournament on Oct. 1, we crowned Karen Nichols as winner of the women's division and Bruce Dalfonso and Scott Daniels as co-winners of the men's division. Congratulations to all who competed! Then on Oct. 13, eight Colony pickleballers took to the road and competed against The Four Seasons players in a morning of excellent competition, sportsmanship and FUN! The next event will be held at The Colony, and we hope you will join us. Also in October, the USA Pickleball organization published the proposed rule changes for 2023. The changes cover everything from spinning serves to the color of clothing worn. If you would like to view the complete official pickleball rulebook and proposed changes, please visit https://usapickleball.org. If you would like to see competitive, jaw-dropping hours of pickleball, please meet us at the courts each morning. Pickleball is a great sport, easy to learn and a wonderful way to meet new friends. Please give me a call if you would like free lessons to join this ever-growing sport. See you on the courts! Pickleball By Kathy Lewis, 412-0006 Men's co-winners Bruce Dalfonso and Scott Daniels Women's winner Karen Nichols
