62 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2022 TOPS It seems there's always something to do in the warm weather approaching the fall and winter holidays. This brief season of preparation tends to fly by, and with everything that is going on, it can be tough to stick to your healthy lifestyle plan. To help us along the way, we have started a Healthy Habits Bingo game. Two people form a team and try to fill out a blackout bingo game. Some of the habits for which players get credit are: get moving to your favorite song, try a new recipe, read a book, exercise for 20 minutes, swim in a pool or lake, ride a bicycle, skip soda for a week, make a gratitude suggestion, get a good night's sleep, walk with a friend, go meatless one day, etc. The winners get to choose from our prize bag of nifty prizes. This month's "Thinner Winner" was Nyla Cheely, with Charles Caldera in second place. They lost the most weight. This happens with exercise, mindful eating, motivation, portion control, new recipes, and meeting attendance. Keep doing what you are doing. It works! You may find that a group like TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) can help you as well. We meet on Tuesday at 8:30 am in The Lodge Ballroom. For more information, call Andi Henderson at (918) 497- 6491. ~ Andi Henderson During September, we enjoyed several opportunities to get outdoors. On Sept. 15, we traveled as a group through Hemet and took The Old Control Road up to Idyllwild. The Control Road is a beautiful and historic route from Hemet to Idyllwild. It is about six miles long and uphill all the way to the top. Once in Idyllwild, our group stopped for lunch at The Red Kettle. We were home by 2:30 pm. This route is gas-friendly as we stayed close to home. We joined the Four Seasons Motorcycle Club in a procession to Redlands Memorial Park, as we honored POWs, MIAs, and local Veterans interned at Redlands Memorial that made the ultimate sacrifice. Most are from WWII. Before Highway 74 was there, The Old Control Road was the way to Idyllwild from Hemet. This was a one way road at one time. It is now a USFS Truck Trail used for recreation and firefighting. The road was controlled in the era of the Model A Ford. Motorists had a few hours to go up and then a few hours to go down, and then it reversed and started all over again. Please feel free to come and check out our group. We meet in the RCN Conference Room on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30, and we generally go on a day run the second Thursday of the month. With the weather cooling, we will have some great outdoor fun in store for all.
