58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2022 As we head into fall and hopefully cooler weather, we look back one last time to the end of summer 2022, when all things summer should have been winding down. The weather was still warm — so warm that pickleball had to be played at 7 am to avoid overheating in a competitive match and so warm that even playing in the evenings meant waiting until it cooled down to 85. Yes, summer wasn't really over in September at Four Seasons Beaumont. In fact, it seemed just the perfect time for President Jesse Aceves to declare a pool party complete with a barbecue to celebrate. As everyone who plays the game of pickleball knows, pickleball players are the most fun and inclusive bunch at Four Seasons. So on Sept. 14, a particularly hot day, pickleball players gathered at The Lodge pool ready to swim, dance, barbecue, discuss pickleball strategy, introduce new players to old players, eat an extraordinary variety of potluck yums, and down the infamous Maggie's Margaritas! Players shared stories and desserts with old timers who had introduced the game to Four Seasons way back in 2007. Neighbors came who hadn't an inkling how the game is played, but left thinking they would come out and try. Beginner techniques are offered Saturdays at 9:30 am at The Courts. In this spirit, we ended summer and began to get excited about the cooler weather and upcoming tournaments offered in Palm Springs, Loma Linda, and Yucaipa. We are an inclusive and welcoming bunch and are excited to share the passion for this game with new players. So why not stop by The Courts any morning after 7 am or in the evenings after 6 pm? And don't forget to check the board on the outside of the fence for upcoming tournament information and strategy sessions as well as beginner instruction. Mark you calendars for our Holiday Extravaganza on Dec. 10. See you on The Courts! ~ Julie Stayner, juliestayner@gmail.com Pickleball Cooler weather is bringing more players out. Let Lizzie know if interested in learning paddle aka "pop tennis." Some of us got together for the last concert and again for some lunch. Our play days remain Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. With cooler weather, we start play at 2 pm. You can get a group together and play any day/time. No reservations required. The Saturday group plays either at 8 or 9 am. We have a great time playing mostly, because of the great folks playing paddle tennis. Come on down. We would love to have you join us. ~ Lizzie Carbajal Gallegos, Jpaez111555@ gmail.com Paddle Tennis It turns out many Pickleball players love to swim as well!
