64 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2022
The eBike Club has been approved and is ready to go. More
importantly, why was this club established?
As reported in Bloomberg News, eBikes are growing in popularity
with sales exceeding one million each year over the past four years.
More eBikes were sold in 2021 and 2022 than electric cars and trucks.
Four Seasons Beaumont is right in the middle of that growth spurt.
eBikes have become a common sight on our roads and in our parking
lots.
The eBike Club will provide support to all eBike riders and owners.
In addition to providing friendship and camaraderie, we hope to
provide a safe environment to ride within our community as well as
some limited excursions.
We hope to provide up-to-the-minute information about new
technology used in building and maintaining eBikes as well as non-
motorized bicycles.
We can provide information on eBike insurance and the best rates
from various companies. (It is rare that your homeowner or vehicle
insurance will cover loss or damage to your eBike.)
We will provide guidance and best practices for riding your eBike
in the safest way possible while still having a fun ride. We have
tentative approval to join the golf cart parades organized by the HOA.
After all, isn't an eBike just a golf cart for one?
There has been a movement to ban ebikes from beaches and
several cities despite ample evidence that eBikes cut down traffic and
can be operated safely and conveniently in mixed traffic. The eBike
Club plans to provide information and education to help stem any
movement to restrict the intended use of our ebikes.
What now? Please email your contact information to Steve Cooley
at cooleyaudit@gmail.com. Please include what, if any, support you
can provide the club, including willingness to serve as an officer and/
or ride planning and coordination.
Once this information is received, the eBike Club will organize and
plan our first actual meeting. ~ Steve Cooley, cooleyaudit@gmail.
