| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2022 | 41 Well it will soon be the year 2023 and there are great things in store for the English language. You are going to fall in love with the all new 32 letter alphabet. The new letters will make it easier to send short tweets on social media. And soon you will have over 2,000 emojis to use when you can't find the right words. Emojis have been used by both the Mayans and early Egyptians long before the Greek alphabet was invented. You won't have to go back to school to learn proper English since the new rules allow what you have been doing all along. Writers can now end a sentence with a preposition and commas can be placed anywhere including at the end of a sentence. New computer keyboards will have lowercase, uppercase, and an emoji button so those cute little designs can be popped in at random. Speaking of random, there is a secret button above the number four that will make whatever letter you hit turn into a random number or letter. If you are impatient and still want to write the old fashioned way, the next meeting of the Sun Lakes Creative Writers will be on Nov. 7 at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Chairs will be provided and you'll get a chance to see what other Sun Lakers are writing about from memoirs to fiction and non-fiction, along with some excellent poetry — that's the one where some of the words often rhyme. Everyone has a story to tell, and this is a great place to begin. The major change coming in 2023 is that we will have two meetings a month instead of just one beginning in January. Like most groups, the Covid scare has kept us from doing our best as a group but has allowed members time to write or take naps. This is now the time to give your writing a chance to shine. If you need more information, you can contact Roger Smith at this phone number. Any other number will not work. (951) 769-2808. ~ Nick Polcino The Dog Owners Group invites YOU to join in the fun! We are new this year and welcome everyone who loves not only dogs, but other pets as well. We do not charge membership or activity fees, but will gratefully accept donations at our events. We meet each month with our dogs, and both humans and canines enjoy the social interaction. To join and receive our monthly newsletter, just call or text Joan Burke at (310) 710-7611. Dog Owners
