| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2022 | 29 The Four Seasons Model Railroad Club was recently formed with charter members David Balser, Elliot Yaeger, Earl Young, Dan Marshall, Gayle Wergeland, Ron Hulme, Chuck Farr, and Mary Swinney. The purpose of the club is to promote the hobby of Model Railroading in our community. We had a table at the November Craft Show and were pleasantly surprised at how many of our neighbors had fond memories of the Lionel trains from their youth. We also discovered a few of us were building layouts at home. The big FUN event we are planning is the Model Railroad Festival taking place April 15-16, 2023 in the Ballroom and on the patio. The entire Ballroom will be filled with model railroads from Z scale, N scale, HO scale and O scale plus fantastic Mini Layouts. On the patio will be two live steam locomotives, a self propelled kids train, a Velocipede, and a mini car show. Also good food, drinks, railroad movies, railroad music, model contests, and door prizes. Bring the grandkids because the layout owners will let them run the model trains. Welcome to the holiday season. Many of our rigs are snug in their respective storage spaces waiting for the next season of travel. They don't have long to wait either. We kick off 2023 with our annual trip to Quartzsite Arizona for the Great RV and Gem Show. The Trip is Jan. 26-31. In May we are going to Bonelli Bluffs. Already our 2023 year is starting to fill. The Happy Camper trip to Death Valley and Pahrump was Nov. 8-17, not October, so we will have pictures and stories from that trip next month. Happy Campers meet the first Saturday of every month at The Lodge. We meet at 10 am in the Multipurpose Room. Come and join the fun. If you don't have an RV, rent one and hit the road with us!
