4 | LIFE IN SOLERA | DECEMBER 2022 | In October, the New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee hosted a social gathering for the members of Solera, focusing on the new residents who moved in during the past six months. Individual invitations were sent out to those new residents who requested a visit from an ambassador and received a Welcome book during this time. We also invited a representative from each club/group to join us and meet with the residents. We were privileged to have 26 new residents attend. After the social time, the new residents attended a presentation about "Living in a HOA." This presentation is also open to all Solera residents. Information about the Davis-Stirling Act in California, our CC&Rs, Bylaws, and our Community Rules are presented, along with the responsibilities of our management company, the Board of Directors, and our residents. The Annual Budget for our Operating, Reserve, and Capital Improvement accounts are also discussed. Questions and answers are held throughout the presentation. This is a great event to attend, especially if you have not lived in a HOA prior to moving to Solera. The next event is Wed., April 26, 2023. We would like to thank all the clubs and groups who were represented at this event for taking your time to meet with our new residents; they truly appreciate talking with you about your club or group. We appreciate all you do for our residents and community. Just a note: the New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee on Friday, (prior to Thanksgiving) will be contacting the new residents who registered in October in regards to scheduling a visit to present a Welcome book. Any new resident who registered beginning Nov. 1 through Dec. 31 will not be contacted until the end of January 2023. Also, if there is any new resident who registered in 2022 who did not receive a Welcome book, please contact Monica Garcia at our office. She will forward your request to me and you will be added to the January list. We want to wish everyone safe and happy holidays! Thank you to our ambassadors for everything they do in making our new residents feel welcomed to our community. ~ Marcia Casem, Chairperson, New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee Welcome Committee Communication & Technology Advisory Committee (CTAC) The Solera Oak Valley Greens Board of Directors created the Communications & Technology Advisory Committee (CTAC) to research, develop, and improve existing and new communication media for the community. To accomplish our goals, we are looking at good old communication methods as well as state-of-the-art technological solutions in an effort to keep all residents informed. An effective communication system in an organization such as our Solera HOA accomplishes many things: • Encourages Team Building – Makes Association Members feel like they are part of the team and included in the activities and business of the Association. • Educates Members – Members can participate in training sessions, entertainment events, classes (e.g., Emergency Preparedness, History, etc.) without having to physically be present. • Builds Trust and Reduces Conflict – When members are not properly educated or made aware of what is happening in the association, they may develop false realities, spread rumors, etc. thereby promoting divisiveness. • Helps with Decision Making – The Board is a decision- making body, gaining input from the community can often be a part of that decision process. • Promotes Activities and Builds Interest – Educating members on our committees and various clubs/groups can be used as a way of "recruiting" new members and finding people to fill positions on committees. • Produces Ideas and Innovation – There are 1290 homes in our community and those residents have a wealth of knowledge and experiences; their input can be valuable in birthing new ideas that may have a positive lifestyle effect and possibly provide valuable information that can be used to solve problems. For additional information on the Committee, go to www. SoleraCTAC.com or join us at one of our meetings held on the first and third Monday of each month starting at 10 am in Oakmont III. You are welcome to attend. Also, you can go to the new "Committee Minutes" link on the Solera website to peruse minutes from CTAC meetings. "Effective communication; a key ingredient in building trust and harmony."
