| OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2022 | 39
As our Club members reach December, Halloween and
Thanksgiving are behind us, and like many others in our community
and elsewhere, we look forward to the holiday season. Fewer hikes
and walks in December, but readers of this write-up can learn about
December activity in Meetup, the Internet site that announces all of
our activities. Just type in Ocean Hills Hikers and Walkers when the
activity bar comes up; you will learn about our activities — hikes
and walks on a variety of trails. We then meet in the overflow parking
lot on the day of the activity at 8:30 am, get organized, set up shared
rides, and head out.
November was a key month for our Club. Scheduled at mid-
month was a meeting to discuss the Club, its activities, its leadership
and its organizational pattern going forward. In the January issue of
OHCC Living, this meeting will be outlined, everyone interested in
hiking and extended walks will receive this update. It will be quite
informative. Rich Halkyard, President, will ably lead the Club into
our activities of January and beyond.
Our slate of officers will be accepted: Rich Halkyard, President
for a third year; also continuing, for a second year, are Herb Livsey,
Vice President; Lori Smith, Treasurer, and Gerry Livsey, Secretary.
Officers at Large will be new to our leadership team: Joyce Conbere,
Ron Lyon, and Lori Erickson; and former Club President Jack Shabel
returning as an Officer at Large.
The Hikers and Walkers Club is at its strongest in leadership.
If you are reading a Hikers/Walkers article for the first time,
know that questions can be answered by Rich Halkyard at redcisc@
gmail.com; his cell is (203) 889-8506. You can learn about our hikes
and walks at the internet site Meetup; all activities outlined there
under the title Ocean Hills Hikers and Walkers. The site gives you
information on the activity and a chance to sign up for the walk or
hike of your choice.
