TOPS
More than 120 men and women
gathered at Banning Estates last
month for a big TOPS (Take Off
Pounds Sensibly) rally. The theme was
camping, and tables were decorated
with clever TOPS centerpieces.
Our campfire leader, Jan High,
would yell "CAMP!" and the crowd
would chant, "Ya Gotta Wanna" which
implied that each member needed a strong desire to live a healthier lifestyle.
Chapters from Southern California attended with the Four Seasons Chapter 2497
represented by Harry and Andi Henderson and Brenda Braszeal. Brenda created a clever
pumpkin centerpiece filled with fresh flowers and Harry and Andi sang a six-verse song
about our feelings on weighing-in day, The Scale Song sung to the tune of the Battle
Hymn of the Republic.
The full-day workshop included speakers, games, and motivational sayings such as…
"Don't look for comfort in a weight plan. It's okay to suffer a little to achieve your goal," and "I may not win immediately, but I will win
eventually."
This month's "Thinner Winner" was Charles Caldera with Sue Hilberg in second place. They lost the most weight. This happens with
exercise, mindful eating, motivation, portion control, new recipes, and meeting attendance. Keep doing what you are doing. It works!
