| LIFE IN SOLERA | JANUARY 2023 | 25 Jesse and Linda Donardt SOLERA SPOTLIGHT At the Music Extravaganza in November, $2,600 was raised to help Jesse Donardt purchase postage so he can continue to mail packages to the troops all over the world. Since 2006, Jesse has mailed over 4,800 packages to men and women in our armed forces. Several years ago, Marty Mangan came up with the idea of a show to raise money for Support Our Troops. This year, as in past years, Marty directed the show and selected the performers from Solera as well as outside the community. The audience enjoyed such songs as Sisters, performed by Penny Quinn and Beverly Crowe, Margaritaville performed by Glenn Bradd. A special guest performer, Ray Racard, delighted the audience with Stuck on You, and Laurie Montoya opened the show with our National Anthem. The show also featured many of our favorite patriotic songs such as Soldier Boy, God Bless America, and God Bless the USA. Many people helped to make this a fun show and a great fundraiser. Thanks to all who made baskets or donated gifts… and a special thanks to Ron Rader who donated a karaoke machine and to Penny Quinn who donated three quilts. Thank you, Jorge Vawter for photography. You can see the video on Solera's website. Bette Rader, Kathy Lockman, and Sheila Kelly took care of decorations and basket arrangements. Marty, Beverly Crowe, and Jesse's wife Linda sold tickets. Ron Rader greeted guests and took tickets. Diana Mangan was responsible for advertising/PR. Of course, the show wouldn't happen without DJ Blast, who provided the music at no charge.
