26 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2023 | Golf Cart Club The Holiday Golf Cart Parade was Dec. 10. It was a big success. One flag posting was scheduled for December: Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 7, just along Four Seasons and World Cup. We had a last-minute Flag Angel incapacitated for Veterans Day, and Kelly and Sharon Collier stepped up, literally at the last minute. Thanks Colliers! Hank Schultz has volunteered (my photos of the Halloween Party had nothing to do with it) to help with the flags. Thanks Hank! Flag Day Postings for 2023 Martin Luther King Day: Jan. 16 (Monday) Presidents' Day: Feb. 20 (Monday) Memorial Day: May 29 (Monday) Flag Day: June 14 (Wednesday) Juneteenth: June 19 (Monday Day) Independence Day: July 4 (Tuesday) Labor Day: Sept. 4 (Monday) Patriots' DAY: Sept. 11 (Monday) Indigenous Peoples' Day/Columbus Day: Oct. 9 (Monday) Veterans' Day: Nov. 11 (Saturday) Pearl Harbor Day: Dec. 7 (Thursday) The flags are posted for eight of the federal holidays throughout the community and for three special days (Flag Day, Patriots Day and Pearl Harbor Day) just along Four Seasons and World Cup. Three additions have been made to last year's schedule: MLK Day was added; Juneteenth is a new holiday; and Indigenous Peoples/ Columbus Day was added. The Flag Angels post flags eight to 11 times a year! I still could use some volunteers to serve as backup Flag Angels so if you want to help, please call me at (951) 973-4149 or email me at mikemcla43@aol.com. ~ Mike McLaughlin The Shuffleboard playoffs are over and the winners have been declared. After many hours of elimination in the bitter cold the champions have been crowned. Second place champs go to Donna Morrell and Maggie Fussell. Girls, you gave a valiant fight all day. First place champs go to Jim Gates and Mike Garrett, this is becoming a habit. Congratulations to your fifth consecutive win. Be sure to stop by the Multipurpose Room to see the plaque. Reminder our Awards Potluck dinner will be in the Ballroom on Jan. 5 at 4 pm. This has been a truly learning experience for me and I know I would not have been able to accomplish this season without the help of my awesome committee. My co-chair Bobbie Davis, scheduler Orville Ellingworth, court helpers Dave Scott, Bob Fussell and John O'Connor, treasurer Sandi O'Connor, and decorating and set up for our dinners Rusty and Cora Quindoza, Barry and Remi Wilson. A big THANK YOU to all. Shuffleboard Pickleball Morning Pickleball: Come join the fun! We play on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7:30 am to noon. We know you'll have as much fun as we do. Evening Only - Pickleball Club: We play on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5 to 8 pm. We invite anyone who would like to play Pickleball to come out. We know you will have as much fun as we all do. Players of all skill levels are welcome! We don't just love playing Pickleball; our group also gets together once a month on a Sunday at The Lodge Game Room. We each bring something to eat and play the game of Sequence. This game is a card and board game: lots of fun, and even better, there's a lot of laughing going on! Award Winners Jim & Mike Award Winners Donna & Maggie
