Happy New Year! The plans have been made and the calendars full. I am hoping there is lots to do for everyone in our community. Last year brought new clubs for the list to offer more and more for each of you. What are you missing? How do you get your information? The communication struggle is real. This magazine gets delivered to each home address, we send emails, posters and handouts in The Lodge area available, yet we still have people say they didn't know. Let's face it — we are in a senior community and what we knew in the living room isn't always what we know when we get to the kitchen (why did I come in here again?). This is where I plead with you to let me know if you are not receiving our emails so I can make sure you are active in the system. Thank you to the Social Committee for another great night, I love to hear all the enthusiasm as the plans take shape. There is still time to admire all the lovely holiday decorations in The Lodge before they come down. The picture below shows our small but MIGHTY holiday decoration team. They are a group of residents lead by JoAnn Sopata. JoAnn has a vision for each room and tries to never leave a bare branch in sight. Tim Gross, our Facilities Maintenance person, may or may not still have glitter he brought in to the new year embedded in his clothes and person. Another resident was walking by when Tim was up on the ladder and the team was below pointing and directing. The resident commented to me he couldn't imagine the patience it took for Tim to have multiple wives critiquing his ornament placement. The food pantry, the Veterans' home, The Salvation Army Angel tree, and My City Youth have all been on the receiving end of your generosity. I am grateful to be witness to such a beautiful outpouring of support to those in need. January is starting off with a Comedy Night and a MLK celebration… let's make this a great year together! 4 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2023 | From Your Activities Director Holiday Décor Committee Gayle Wergeland, Barbra Balser, Mollie Wergeland, JoAnn Sopata, Christine Sullivan, and Karen Hikel
