50 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2023 This is the perspective of the artist of the month, Linda Rau: "At this time of year, we like to find things that calm us from stress that the holidays do to us. It's scientifically proven that being around water can calm the soul. So, why not fly to Hawaii and lie on the beach for a week or head to the country and fish on the pond of an old mill. I really enjoy painting scenes that include water, even though I'm still learning how to paint water to show waves, currents, waterfalls, and the stillness of a pond. Then there's reflections! We are fortunate here at Four Seasons to have a few water features to paint, but also because we have Rob Kelman and his Mixed Media class. Painting is also calming to the soul. Rob guides us through our compositions and provides advice and suggestions when we need them. We also learn from the other artists in our class, since everyone is so helpful and encouraging. "So, if you need some stress relief and can't get away for a week in Hawaii or escape to the countryside, come join us!" Classes are on Mondays from 10 am to 12 pm and/or on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 pm. There is a nominal $5 fee per person, per session. If you have any questions, call Rob Kelman at (951) 992-9156. ~ Rob Kelman Mixed Media Arts We head into 2023 with our excited Performing Arts Club (PAC) members and led by new officers Pat Wayne, Claudia Rozzi, and Laurie Naliboff. In December, our own Merry Minstrels sang for residents at the holiday show on Dec. 2 in The Lodge Lobby and throughout the community during the season. Upcoming is the May show, Remember when Rock was Young. There will be auditions Jan. 15 from 2 to 4 pm in The Lodge Ballroom. Please look for flyers in The Lodge and on the e-Blast. For any newcomers to Four Seasons, this club supports volunteers from our community who love to perform by singing, acting, doing tech, staging, producing, etc. This year, PAC will be active with three shows and some fun nights. These shows are all free to residents. Our calendar is set for 2023 so just keep us in mind. We are always looking for new volunteers familiar with audio visuals, i.e., lighting, sound, etc. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or any officer. Our next meeting will be in the RCN Main Room on Monday, Jan. 9 at 6 pm. Please support the new officers and see what is happening next. Get your name on the mailing list if it is not already on it. For info or you wish to be involved, contact Marianne Bugni, PAC Chairperson, at (920) 517-2739 or email lamarib77@gmail.com. ~ Marianne Bugni Performing Arts Club L-R: Claudia Rozzi, Jerry Monahan, Dan Hazeltine, Gary Sifter, Tom Olsen, Steve Schwinn, Bob Lucas, Marianne Bugni; on the guitar is Mike Bugni
