| LIFE IN SOLERA | FEBRUARY 2023 | 5 This is an analysis only. The Board has not made any decision for action/non-action. The Traffic Calming Survey was conducted for two months ending Nov. 15, 2022. The Survey was open to all residents of Solera Oak Valley Greens. 665 surveys were counted, 49 were not counted as no name, signature, or address was indicated. The first section listed eight items: 1. Traffic is not a problem in Solera. 2. Drivers stop at stop signs. 3. Drivers roll through stop signs. 4. Drivers do not attempt to stop at stop signs. 5. Speed is an issue. 6. Would flashing stop signs be helpful to make people stop at intersections? 7. Should speed cushions be installed on our main streets? 8. Should some other type of device be installed on our main streets? There were six available responses: No Response, and one through five with one meaning no or never to five meaning yes or always. Note: Item #4 was confusing to many. A no response would mean that drivers DO attempt to stop, and a yes response would mean that drivers DO NOT attempt to stop. The responses were 24% for each response of one and two. The middle response was 35% and the response for four and five were 12% and 2% respectively. The non-responses to each item listed ranged from 1% to 4%. Taking the responses from one and two (added together), then three, and then adding together four & five will indicate the following comparison between these responses: 1. 38% No Or Little Traffic Problem 28% Some 30% Many Or Yes 2. 22% No Stop At Stop Signs 40% Some 37% Always Stop 3. 22% Do Not Roll Through 42% Some 33% Yes, They Roll Through 4. 48% Drivers Attempt To Stop 35% Some 14% Do Not Attempt To Stop 5. 42% Speed Is Not An Issue 31% Some 25% Speed Is An Issue 6. 53% No Flashing Stop Signs 28% Some 18% Yes For Flashing Stop Signs 7. 65% No Speed Cushions 14% Some 19% Yes, Speed Cushions 8. 67% No Other Devices 19% Some 11% Yes, Some Other Device Looking at the no action/action results, the average of six, seven, and eight = 61.67% to not do anything, whereas the average of six, seven, and eight = 16% to do something. 97% of the residents who answered the survey are drivers, 2% are primarily pedestrians, and 1% did not answer this question. The comment section reflected somewhat the same responses: 19% do nothing, 0% for flashing stop signs, 2% for cushions, 8% for other suggestions, and 70% gave no comment. Other suggestions included: remove all stop signs, gate security to remind guests and vendors to follow the speed limits and stop at intersections, ask the Beaumont PD to issue citations, modify speed limits to either increase or decrease, education/awareness, take responsibility, be courteous, and be cautious. Traffic Survey Analysis We would like to thank Clarence Thomas (CT) for his contribution and time at our community. Wishing him nothing but success and fulfillment in his endeavors. Best of luck! Our call for sisters from last month's issue has been expanded to include ALL who have relatives living in Solera. Please send emails to vctrhvlnd@gmail.com with the subject line "Relatives in Solera" and I will compile an article about the good/funny/hopefully no bad stories about living in the same community as a relative. You may choose to have your contribution anonymous if you would like, and we would all enjoy hearing stories from both sides of the coin (in other words, both relatives' perspectives). Again, we hope to have a group photo to accompany the article so along with your submission if you could please include name, contact information and preferred method of contact (text or phone). Thanks! CALLING ALL RELATIVES LIVING IN SOLERA!
