| LIFE IN SOLERA | FEBRUARY 2023 | 3 FROM THE BOARD By Marcia Casem January has been a busy month, starting out the new year and getting things done. The repairs on the swimming pool started the week of Jan. 9. We have a new parking lot at the Clubhouse. The analysis for the Traffic Calming Survey was presented at the monthly Board Meeting. The Community Rules have been accepted, and the Design Guidelines have been accepted. A Town Hall Meeting to obtain ideas for developing a Strategic Plan for the balance of this fiscal year and the next fiscal year of 2023 – 2024 was held on Jan. 25. We are hopeful to have a new floor installed in the Oakmont Rooms shortly. A Landscape Architect for the Greenbelt has developed a plan. We are scheduling a Town Hall Meeting in February to present the plan. We will invite the architect to attend and answer questions. When the Board approves the plans, we will be able to apply for a grant with state and federal funding through the Urban Community Drought Relief Funding Application. It is now election time for Solera's Board of Directors. If you are interested in being on our Board for the next two years, please complete and submit the Board Interest form no later than March 6. There will be three positions to be filled. It is a good idea to review the Election Rules to understand the process. We need candidates who are interested in serving our community. Being a board member also means you will attend Open Session Board meetings, (held on the third Wednesday of the month), attend Executive Board meetings (held the first Wednesday of the month, and sometimes the third Wednesday of the month as needed), be a Liaison to one or more Advisory Committees, be part of special committees as the need arrives, and be willing to attend training classes. If you have any questions, please contact Monica Munoz or Marcia Casem. We thank the Decoration Advisory Committee for the beautiful holiday decorations — the new Christmas Tree Lane was a wonderful idea and great success. This committee also keeps the Clubhouse decorated for the changing seasons and events, and they do an amazing job. Thank you.
