| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | FEBRUARY 2023 | 23 Seasons Quilters is off to a great start this new year. In addition to quilting together every first and third Thursday of the month, we also display our quilts, donate to philanthropic needs throughout the Valley, and enter to win BIG! Last month the Annual Road to California Quilt Show in Ontario, CA, Southern California's largest quilt extravaganza. This month, on Feb. 10 and 11 (Friday and Saturday) from 10 am to 4 pm, Valley Quilters Guild 43rd Annual Quilt Show will get in on some of that action. The Guild have been showing their quilts annually for over 40 years, accepting entries from their members, in addition to quilts entered from all over Southern California and beyond. The show is judged, enabling a win in Hemet to be the next step toward entering at Road to California. Held at Valley Wide Recreation Center, located at 901 W. Esplanade in San Jacinto, this year's show will be jam-packed with vendors, the Guild's Opportunity Quilt, basket raffles, and of course a few trips through 'Second Time Around' to purchase those hidden treasures. The Guild invites everyone to "Come see what we've made for you!" Back at home, our first club meeting in February will be Feb. 2 in the Arts & Crafts Room beginning at 10 am, breaking for lunch at the Bistro, and then coming back to continue sewing. We've been enjoying sharing in the talents of each of our members, with some hands-on techniques, making each of our approach to this wonderful craft always creative and fun! Our second February meeting will be Feb. 16, always beginning at 10 am. Curiosity seekers are welcome, and new members are actively encouraged! Seasons Quilters meets every first and third Thursday in the Arts & Crafts Room from 10 am to 4 pm. For more information about quilting, activities, fun projects, and forming forever friendships through this wonderful hobby of quilting, stop by the Arts & Crafts Room and see what's sewing! We would love to meet you. All residents are welcome to meetings and excursions. For more information, please contact Diane Best at (951) 816-0449, dianequilts@verizon. net or Sharon Deuber at (760) 500-0077, YouDeserveIt@twc.com. Dinner is at 5:30 pm, followed by a raffle at 6:30 pm and Karaoke and dancing at 6:45 pm. Bring a dish to share for eight to 10, your own utensils, dishes and beverage of choice. If you are concerned about sharing the buffet, you may bring your own dinner. All residents are welcome and this is a great way to meet new friends on the first Friday of every month. Diamond Painting Class Diamond Painting class is back! This fun and hands-on craft class will teach you the basic techniques of Diamond Painting. Diamond Painting is a combination of cross-stitch and paint-by-numbers. The end result will be a vivid, shimmering work of art! Each piece can be framed and hung in your home or office, gifts for family, friends, and loved ones… or kept for yourself to enjoy! All materials are included in course cost as well as instructor-provided extras. Cost: $35. Bring your own snacks. Classes will be progressive and held on Wednesdays 3:30 to 5 pm on Feb. 8, 15, and 22 in the Arts & Crafts Room. You must register by Jan. 31.
