FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2023 59 With the ringing in of the new year, activities for the Tennis Club are also starting to resurface from the deep winter hibernation. Brrrr! One of these activities is the participation in the USTA leagues. Many of our club members have already been playing competitive tennis against other clubs since the first week of January. For those who are not familiar with the USTA, it stands for the United States Tennis Association. It's the national governing body for the sport of tennis on every level in the U.S., ranging from local communities to the U.S. Open including amateur to professional tennis players. The USTA is the largest tennis organization in the world, with current membership more than 680,000 members. Each year, our Tennis Club participates in many leagues sanctioned by the USTA. These leagues include Women's Singles, Women's Doubles, Men's Singles, Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles, just to name a few. All of these leagues are also categorized by age groups. The matches are generally played against teams from other clubs in the Inland Empire or Coachella Valley. Playing in these leagues gives us plenty of opportunities to meet different players at different levels. At the same time, we have the pleasure of visiting some absolutely gorgeous facilities that resemble five-star vacation resorts. Congratulations to one of our teams who made it to the Sectionals. They got to compete against other clubs last month who also won in their respective regions. Cheers to our Four Seasons USTA Team! So, if you are a tennis player and would like to be a part of our USTA teams, please feel free to ask us about it. See you all at The Courts! The Summit was beautifully decorated and we all enjoyed the food, and most of all, our friendship.
