FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2023 49 Classic Film Group The Classic Film Group presents Alfred Hitchcock's Dial M for Murder on Feb. 28 and March 7 at 6 pm in The Lodge Theater. In London, the wealthy Margot Mary Wendice (Grace Kelly) had a brief love affair with the American writer Mark Halliday (Robert Cummings) one year ago while her husband, professional tennis player Tony Wendice (Ray Milland), is traveling in a tennis tour. Tony quits playing to dedicate time to his wife and she decides to give their marriage a second chance. When Mark arrives from America to visit the couple, Margot tells him that she had destroyed all his letters but one that was stolen in a depot. She is blackmailed but she has never retrieved the stolen letter. Tony arrives home and claims that he needs to work and asks Margot to go with Mark to the theater. Meanwhile Tony calls Captain Lesgate - aka Charles Alexander Swann (Anthony Dawson) - who studied with him in college and blackmails him to murder his wife with the intent of inheriting her fortune. But there is no perfect crime and things do not go as planned. Dial M for Murder is one of the best thrillers of cinema history, with a theatrical story supported by an excellent screenplay and top-notch performances. This time, the cameo of Alfred Hitchcock is in the picture of Tony's reunion. In 1998, Andrew Davis remade this movie with A Perfect Crime, with Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow and Viggo Mortensen. ~ Paul Plamondon, 4seasonsmoviegroup@gmail.com The club has screenings on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. We screen films you won't find at the big Cineplexes: documentaries, indie films, foreign films, and other little gems that don't get wide release. Due to the Super Bowl game falling on our first screening date in February, there will only be one screening this month. Our screening for the month, on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 6 pm, is the film Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (UK 2022, 1 hr. 55 min., English). Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "In partnership with the House of Dior, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris tells the story of a widowed cleaning lady in 1950s London who falls madly in love with a couture Dior dress and decides that she must have one of her own. After she works, starves, and gambles to raise the funds to pursue her dream, she embarks on an adventure to Paris which will change not only her own outlook, but the very future of the House of Dior." All screenings are followed by lively discussion about the film; we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge Theater has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early; we hope to see you there. Please note that all films announced are subject to availability.
