18 | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2023 | Recreation News By Chris Bessey, Recreation Director By Carol Jones Happy Valentine's Day. You will love how easy it is to take the shuttle. Pick from four trips weekly. The 2023 Schedule is on page 47 of this month's OHCC Living magazine and in the Clubhouse information rack. John Angles provides door-to-door service. If you need extra assistance, the shuttle has one equipped to safely get passengers in and out. This is just another amenity provided by OHCC so just call Clubhouse by 3 pm day before the trip to make a reservation to visit local businesses on Tuesdays and Thursday or Thursdays. Save gas, make new friends and avoid traffic jams. Want a personal connection? Call me, Carol Jones, at (916) 550-2934 or email Sparkly166@gmail.com. Lovin' the Shuttle Happy Valentine's to all! I love this month! To celebrate, the Clubhouse will host a Coffee and "Donut Love Fest" on Tues., Feb. 14, from 8 to 10 am. Please come by the Bar and share some love and donuts with your friends and neighbors. The front desk has been a hive of activity as 2023 rolls out. We have directories (one per household) and Annual Golf Bag Tags for residents to pick up. Bag tags are a Dayglo Yellow, so if anyone sees a golfer with a different color, send them in to us to update their tag. There is no charge, but a new tag needs to be displayed each year to identify members. Guests do not have to have a bag tag but must be accompanied by a resident. Reflective vests at $6 each are available to purchase- one size fits all. Residents are encouraged to wear them while walking the Leisure Village loop, especially at dusk and when walking at night. Tri-City Medical Center is offering their Lunch and Lecture for "Heart Healthy" Month on Tues., Feb. 7, at 11:30 am. Tickets need to be secured at the Front Desk, so that the Medical Center can order enough lunches for all of those who want to attend. We are looking forward to four presentations in 2023. The taping of the presentations will be made available on the in-house Channel 1960. We appreciate the AV Committee for stepping in to help us, always! The 2023 Shuttle Trip Schedule is posted in this publication on page 47. The interest in the shuttle has increased and we find more new residents are asking about the services. We added four special trips that will begin in February. The shuttle holds 24 passengers and reservations will be taken, in the order they are received, the day before the trip, starting at 8 am. Our Impersonator Show, The Swingin' Sixties, is on Sat., March 12, and the Recreation Department is excited to host this again. It is always an informal night with a lot of dancing, laughter, and camaraderie. Tickets are available for $45. Yes, so the price has gone up- and just where do you go in San Diego for a top-notch show, sandwiches, sodas, and no parking fees? Well, right here in the Clubhouse. Riddle for the Month: I can break; I can be clogged. I can be attacked; I can be given. I can be kept; I can be crushed. Yet, I can be whole at the same time. What am I? Your heart… so share it, take care of it, and see you in the Clubhouse!
