FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2023 55 Ever since the inception of the Four Seasons Tennis Club, the club has been growing both in popularity and membership. This, to some extent, is due to the very nice tennis facility we have here in our complex. But more importantly, we have some very enthusiastic and willing volunteers who are extremely generous with their personal time in helping the club grow and making it fun to be a club member. Two members who stand out and deserve some much-needed recognition are Liliana Simanton and Nancy Walker. Whenever our club puts on any club functions, e.g. tennis tournaments, barbecues, annual dinner, etc., Liliana and Nancy are always there to help make the event run smoothly and successfully. They work hard behind the scene and make the rest of us look good. These two ladies are the true, unsung heroes! A big thank you to Liliana and Nancy, for all your valuable contributions and hard work for the benefit of our club. A few years back, in one of the Saturday class/drills sessions, Liliana and Nancy showed up. Tennis was new to Nancy, and Liliana hadn't picked up a racket since her college days. From that Saturday on, you can always find them on the courts practicing at the crack of dawn every day, come rain or shine (OK, maybe not when it's pouring cats and dogs). But the truth is, they are very dedicated and love the sport. They have both improved so much in their game that Nancy has joined our USTA team and has been playing competitively against other clubs. That just goes to show what determination can do when we have our minds set. These two ladies are living proof. Way to go, Liliana and Nancy! See you all at The Courts! Well, our paddle group did just that. In January, we had such a day playing against the Sun Lakes group of paddle tennis folks, here at Four Seasons. We ended up in a tie, equal matches won by both groups. Our group got to catch up with each other and the Sun Lakes group. We then carried on with our camaraderie by having dinner at the Bistro with them (pictured in the photo at right). We are always open for new folks to learn the sport that we love so much – paddle tennis (aka Pop Tennis). Paddle /Pop tennis is growing every day at the Paddle group Association National. Reservations are not needed to use the paddle courts. During cold weather, a group meets every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, usually at 2 pm. We have extra paddles for you to use.
