A Pass Action Group (PAG) Town Hall meeting was held Feb. 7, in the Sun Lakes Ballroom. The purpose of this town hall was to update the community on all issues related to the Banning Point project. PAG supporters were informed of our lawsuit timeline and expectations. At the time of this writing, we will have received the response from the city of Banning and the developers. We have until March 9, 2023, to respond. Once our response is filed with the court, we should have a hearing with the judge in April or May. At this time, it would be speculation as to how quickly the judge will rule. Recently, a group of over 60 organizations have requested that Governor Newsom impose a moratorium on warehouses in the Inland Empire. Although warehouses are actually under local governance, it is possible that some action may come of this. We are currently looking into the possibility of joining this group. As you may have seen on the PAG flyer in the February Lifestyles, we are averaging between $10,000 and $15,000 in legal fees monthly. We continue to raise funds to assure that we can see this through to the end. Once again, we would not be where we are today without the amazing support of the local community. This includes, but is not limited to, members of Sun Lakes, Four Seasons at Beaumont, The Lakes, and numerous individuals throughout Banning and the greater Pass Area. We have a fundraiser/social event on March 26 at 3 pm in the South Clubhouse. We are calling it "Friends Follies." Food and one glass of wine are included along with contests and a silent auction for only $40 pp. Space is limited and flyers went out well before this publication. Hopefully, it will not be sold out and we can accommodate all interested people. The deadline to sign up is March 20.
