| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2023 | 3 March will be another active month for the Board and the community overall with elections, carpeting, master planning, general maintenance, and more. We are currently in the middle of election season. There will be three Board positions open and voted for on the ballot. The top two vote getters will serve two-year terms and the candidate with the third most will serve the one year remaining on the term of Dan Comerford who passed away in October, 2022. All candidates turned in their paperwork by Feb. 8 and there will be a Candidates Forum held in the Ballroom on March 1 at 4 pm. Ballots will be mailed to homeowners on Fri., March 10. Do not miss your opportunity to vote for your representation on the Master Board. The Sun Lakes website and App were upgraded at the beginning of the new year. You may now pay your house account online via either the website or the App. Golf tee times may also be made via the App. More features, including Restaurant reservations, will be coming soon. The Ballroom, Atrium, restrooms, and offices have been fully repainted. The new carpet was due to arrive in late January. Due to a manufacturing error, this has been pushed out to March. This high-quality carpet will be a great improvement over the current carpet. The Board has been working on a Master Plan Initiative for the community. On Feb. 8, a meeting was held with Key Stakeholders (Committee chairs and the Board of Directors). Every member in the community is considered a Stakeholder. Stakeholder (noun): A person with an interest or concern in something, denoting a type of organization or system in which all the members or participants are seen as having an interest in its success. Please see full letter regarding Master Plan Initiative (MPI) in this Lifestyles Magazine for more details. Members of the Board have met with the city of Banning numerous times since the Governor's water mandate was enacted on June 10, 2022. We continue to ask for the city to amend Level 2 of their contingency plan for water features or move them into Level 3, allowing us to use our water features. Once this is achieved, we will make necessary repairs and get them back up and operating as soon as possible. This issue was on the City Council agenda for Feb. 14, 2023, to set a Public Hearing with possible changes in 30 days or so. We are currently running a survey, administered by Mr. Ajit Desai, regarding a dog park and Lounge expansion. Please take part either through your District Delegate or the online survey. We will use this information along with the input of the Dog Park Ad Hoc Committee to decide what action should be taken. The Board wishes everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day. "The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." Coretta Scott King "Good fortune is what happens when opportunity meets with planning." Thomas Edison ~ President Bob Walter, VP Randy Robbins, 2nd VP Beverly Simmons, Secretary Lori Hazelton From the Master Board May love and laughter light your days, and warm your heart and home. May good and faithful friends be yours, wherever you may roam. May peace and plenty bless your world with joy that long endures. May all life's passing seasons bring the best to you and yours!
