Matinee Club
We're back! Before there was a Covid lockdown,
before the bulldozers began on the golf course,
there was a small, but popular club called THE
MATINEE CLUB. Our purpose was to bring quality and affordable
entertainment on campus for the enjoyment of all our neighbors,
including their kids and grandkids. These performances included
modern dance, a play, national and internationally renowned
comedians (all with clean content), and orchestra (for your listening
and dancing pleasure), singing groups, and the ever-fabulous annual
OH FOLLIES, starring a wide variety of extremely talented OHCCers.
In the past, we hosted the annual Trunk or Treat event. Do let us
know.
And we're back! When possible, performances are scheduled for
Sunday afternoons, with a start time of 2 pm to include friends and
those who still work. We are also thinking bigger this year, going
after even more famous people. I tell you this because we are big
dreamers, and we also act big. We have already begun negotiations
with some top-drawer entertainers. It can't hurt to try, right?
We'd love to give you our schedule for the year, but it is not yet set,
so I can only recommend that you look for our notices, on the big
board, the poster shelves, NextDoor, and wherever else we can notify
you. In-tube flyers are on our marketing plan, and members will get
emails.
To join the club and get early ticketing purchase opportunities,
please make out a check to OHCC Matinee Club for annual fee of $10.
Be sure the check includes your email address (legibly written) and
drop it off at the front desk.
If you have access to, are related to, or even know how to contact
any talent group you'd like to bring on campus, by all means let us
know! You can leave a message at the front desk or contact Al Fried,
Director of Entertainment (and Treasurer) at (760) 846-6277.
We look forward to entertaining you!
