Hi, Ho, birds are in the trees now! This is a line from a song on one of my grandparents old 78 records, the big thick ones that were played on the gramophones, circa 1920… with a handle to wind them up. It somehow landed in my bedroom when I was a teenager and I played it a lot. I can still hear the unusual sound quality that came from that antique wonder. A curious combination of the era's "technology" and the popular style of singing at the time. Music stimulates such vivid memories within us. Spring IS in the air and we're enjoying more sunshine and it's time to make some beautiful musical memories. I'd encourage anyone who enjoys singing to come and join us on Thursdays at 10:15 am. If you're not sure, you can just try it out for a day. The last day to join us in order to perform at our next concert will be Thurs., Feb. 24. We're doing some outstanding music and we're going to make some beautiful memories. "Yesterday Once More" Celebrating Abba, The Carpenters, The 5th Dimension And The Mamas & The Papas is a unique new musical revue celebrating four of the most iconic singing groups known for their soaring vocal harmonies. In addition to instantly recognizable hits of some of the most popular music ever recorded, Yesterday Once More stars four dynamic performers whose lush harmonic interpretations are featured as an ensemble and individually! The Carpenters' Close To You, Top Of The World, We've Only Just Begun and Mr. Postman… and ABBA's Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Take A Chance on Me, and Waterloo… The Mamas and Papas' California Dreaming, Monday Monday and Dream A Little Dream… The 5th Dimension's Up Up and Away, Aquarius and Let The Sunshine In. These are just some of the non-stop hits you will enjoy, plus eye- popping, retro costumes, non-stop choreography plus informative and humorous banter. For everyone who remembers this music, it is a return to rich harmonies and relatable songs. For anyone who simply loves great pop music and amazing vocal blends, this is a show not to be missed! This is another top-flight show from OHSPA subsidized for only $30 a ticket. For all of our new residents… on the first morning (at 7:30 am) of selling tickets (March 31), only two tickets per household may be purchased. This does not mean that a husband and wife can each buy two tickets but when the initial sale is completed, you may buy as many tickets as you wish (for your neighbors, relatives and friends) and this usually occurs around 9:30 am when we move the sales to the concierge table under the clock. If you choose to sit with friends, please come and sit together when you come to buy tickets at the early hours. If you want to sleep in on the morning of the concert, ask about the Star Donor program. It allows you to do just that and you may purchase tickets for one concert or for all the remaining concerts. We are so grateful that we can be in AB Hall watching this first- class entertainment at such a low cost AND we do not have to drive anywhere or stay up to the wee hours of the morning. It cannot get much better than this but we all know that it does. The tickets are only $30 because they are subsidized by your donations to OHSPA. See you at curtain time on May 13.
