| OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2023 | 31 Music Lovers The new Music Lovers Club is a big hit and we're continuing to grow our membership. With close to 80 members now, we have proof that music is alive and well and loved here in OHCC. Have you visited the Clubhouse on Monday mornings? There's a song to be heard and a tune being played between 9:30 and 11:30 am each Monday morning as the Music Lovers Club proudly presents Coffee house Mondays. We've listened to the sounds of Twin Pics, a jazz guitar duo featuring Mike Cea and Rick Ross, H2 plus 1, a pop trio with Harvey Bernstein, Howard Laurence and Mike Cea as the +1, and Brad Davidson on acoustic guitar playing and singing his very own songs. There's more to come so be sure to come by, sit a spell and enjoy a cuppa and some treats. The Villagers are performing live for the entire community on the third Friday of each month. Mark your calendars, pack up your favorite beverage and dinner or maybe just dessert, and bring it on down to the Hall. The sound system was replaced by Fender so the group is sounding better than ever. There's music and dancing for all. Put on your favorite toe tappers and get out on the dance floor. Hope you made it to the St. Patrick's Day concert. April's will be on the 21st. Don't miss out, especially if you're a music lover. Look for news about our Musical Variety Show planned for late September. We're forming a committee and will be auditioning acts for the show beginning this spring. Love to dance? Love to sing? Love to play music? Then this show is for you. Contact any of the Club's members for more info or email the Ceas at ceafamily@cox. net. Karaoke will be making a debut at our next General Meeting and later, we'll be looking for a place to showcase everyone's singing talents. Be on the lookout for some fun evenings of song. We'll have over 150K songs to choose from. Our off-site music director has introduced us to the Regal Theater which showcases operas recorded at the Met for the audience's viewing and listening pleasure, all in the comfortable surroundings of reclining seats, low lighting, and surround sound. On three Saturday mornings in April, the Regal in Oceanside will present three Operas: Verdi's Falstaff on April 1st, Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier on April 15, and Blanchard's Champion on April 29. Club members may contact Mary Stoneking-Fleckman for tickets and carpooling. Also, check out Palomar's free afternoon music concerts on their website. Mary will be presenting more information at our general meeting. We appreciate all the support we've gotten from the community for bringing you music opportunities that welcome all to come and enjoy. We're hoping to find ways to bring even more music your way over the months to come. Whether you are a club member or a resident who simply loves what we're about and supports our music, you are our reason for doing what we do. Thank you. I wanted to share some quotes that I found about music, and enjoyed. "Music is the universal language of mankind." ~ Henry Wadsworth Long fellow "Music is the soundtrack of our lives." ~ Dick Clark "Music touches us emotionally, where words alone can't." ~ Johnny Depp ¡Viva la Música! ~ Respectfully submitted by Debbie Cea
