"If you have a library and a garden, you have everything you need."
~ Cicero
In reference to the above quote, after the last few months of cold,
wet, snow, wet, cold, and snow again, the library would have been a
welcome diversion. In the words of our Garden of Eat-em Guy, Pat
Pennington, "it's been a miserable winter for gardens." Maybe this
month we can venture outside and into the garden instead of into the
library and a good book.
As of this writing, it is a week before our March meeting, so
I cannot offer a recap of our Activities Day meeting featuring our
several committees represented by each of the chairpersons who
serve on our Board. We hope to instate some new committees and
reinstate others, such as the Garden Club Bus trips. The committee
chairs will be available to answer questions about their committees
and will explain what the committee does and what is involved in
doing it. We expect a well-attended meeting that inspires lots of
active participation from our members and possibly inspiring
visiting guests to join our club. Look for an update on the Garden
Club page of the Sun Lakes website.
We are delighted to say Robert Ruseckas is returning Wed., April
19. He was with us last year and gave a brilliant slide presentation
chronicling his experience with local hummingbirds. This year he
has a photo presentation titled, "A Different Way to Look at Taking
Flower Photos." The Sun Lakes Lifestyles Magazine has featured his
photos on the cover more than 100 times which certainly attests to
his photo taking expertise. His presentations are always beautiful,
informative, and fun.
Guests are always welcome to attend one of our meetings which
are on the second Wednesday of every month at 10 am in the Main
Clubhouse Ballroom (unless otherwise announced). Dates for the
next few months are, April 19, May 10 (our spring luncheon), and
June 14. Dues are only $15 a year. You can reach our President
Beverly Agner at (951) 306-7379. She is always ready to answer your
questions. If you have questions about joining, our membership
Co-Chairs Sherry Case at (951) 533-3584 and Linda Powers at (951)
769-3101 would be happy to help.
