But mark your calendars now to attend this well-loved Colony tradition. Players eater By Kathleen Ricketts, 951-894-1919 May is upon us with warmer weather and beautiful flowers! We hope everyone who attended our first "Meet and Greet" enjoyed your time and were able to learn more about Actors Studio. Our meetings are held twice each month from 4 to 6 pm, on the 2nd Thursday in the Card Room and on the 4th Thursday in the Annex. Our next play will be in March 2024 and auditions for it will be from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, June 19 in the Auditorium. For those who cannot attend that audition, an additional one will be held in the Auditorium from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, June 22. We encourage all of you who have a desire to participate in a theatrical performance to try out for one of the parts in our new production. We will also need technical support, stage management, set and program design, hosts and hostesses, and makeup and costume assistance. There is opportunity for anyone who would like to become a part of the Actors Studio. We look forward to seeing you at our meetings and auditions. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Chuck Gordon at 661-714-3847; Greg Hill at 951-526-9896; Ron Rodarte at 951-813-5700 or me. I think The Colony is an incredibly social community. There are many "official" events sponsored by the Social Committee and also by the HOA (thank you, Kara). But wait! There's more! Some clubs are very social. Most do their own thing, e.g., Wine Club, Chorus, Actors Studio, etc. One of my favorites is Colony Karaoke. What? There is karaoke in The Colony? Yes! On the first and third Tuesday of the month, some of us get together to sing and be social. It's casual, kind of like a Cheers bar. The gatherings are fun and include entertainment, i.e., the singers. There are some singers who are awesome, some who are okay, and some⦠well, I think you get it. It's KARAOKE. A typical evening might include anywhere from 8 to 12 people who want to sing, and usually it includes twice as many people who are there just to share friendship and meet other neighbors and their guests. There are almost no restrictions. In Colony fashion, it is BYOE (bring your own everything), although many people share. If you want to be there, then come between 6:15 to 9 pm on the first and third Tuesday to the Auditorium. If you want to sing, contact Jeri Huestis at jjhuey@aol.com. She will contact you about when to sign up for singing at the next get-together. What songs? The karaoke DJ is Bonnie Graham, and she has a library of over 60,000 songs. To view that list, contact me, Ken Luekens, at kluekens@gmail.com. I will be able share viewing privileges to the song list, which is on the Cloud. It includes many new, even current, songs. Come and join the fun. No cost. No need to do anything but be there.
