| THE COLONY NEWS | MAY 2023 | 9 HOA STAFF PROFILE: ANTHONY REYNOSO By Joanne Deacon Anthony (and Avel) directs the maintenance of 100 Colony acres – diverse landscape with multiple requirements - while dealing with our diverse and vocal residency and the city and water departments. Quite a challenge! He's also assigned Special Projects (i.e., lighting at Nutmeg gate). Sanity requires an active personal life for balance as you'll see below. Great job, Anthony! In Anthony's own words… Hello everyone, my name is Anthony Reynoso, and I am the Landscape Superintendent and Special Projects Coordinator for e Colony. I was raised in Chino, CA and moved to Fallbrook in 1981 and have been here ever since. I have been married to my wife, Holly, for 28 years this July and have two boys, Michael (25) and Matthew (21). Growing up, we were a sports-oriented family, my dad was a high school football and baseball coach, and I loved riding the bus to games and being in the locker rooms, especially football half times sneaking in to hear the coaches yell at the kids. ose were the days! I played semi- pro baseball for almost eight years, then got into slow pitch soball playing tournaments every other weekend in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah while playing in leagues six nights a week. With my boys getting into sports as well, I coached their youth teams in soccer, Pony Baseball, Travel baseball and Pop Warner Football. As my playing days lessened, I started to coach baseball at Fallbrook HS, 26 years later I retired at Mission Vista High School in 2018 when my son Matthew graduated. e best memory I have was taking him off the mound (pitching) for the last time… at that moment, I knew I was done. I now enjoy playing golf with my older son Michael every chance I get or with friends over a few beers. My new hobbies are smoking (meats), creating and developing BBQ rubs and woodworking. I love making reclaimed wood coolers, tables and charcuterie boards in my little garage work- shop. In our spare time, Holly and I like to load up the dogs and take our travel trailer out and get into nature with some hiking, fishing or to the beach. We have trips planned this summer. We like long trips but still enjoy anytime away from home, even if it's only for the weekend. Professional Life: I grew up in the landscape industry as our dad started a nursery in Anaheim, CA that led to landscaping then into maintenance and a move to beautiful Fallbrook. I graduated from Fallbrook High School in 1986 and then studied Architecture at Arizona, and upon graduation had draing jobs. I really hated sitting in an office all day and went back to work in the family business until starting my own maintenance company in 1995 and later sold in 2003. I have worked for some of Southern California's largest landscape companies, running contracts for the City of Oceanside, City of Solana Beach, San Diego Port Authority, County of Riverside Transportation, In-N-Out Burger (nine years) and other jobs from the San Diego Mexican border to Mecca near the Salton Sea. I was getting tired of the long drive, in traffic, leaving the house at 4 am and getting home at 5:30 pm. I was lucky enough to come across the job opening at e Colony. I was interviewed, hired and started on May 21, 2018, and e Colony became my home close to home! I enjoy coming to work as each day brings something different, and I love seeing all of the residents in the community. My family – Matthew, Holly, Me & Michael By Margaret Norville There are numerous occasions throughout the year to celebrate our country and show patriotism by flying the United States flag. We have some such holidays coming up in the next few months: Memorial Day, May 29; Flag Day, June 14; Independence Day, July 4; and Labor Day, Sept. 4. As you drive around the Colony, you will notice many of our residents also opt to fly the flag daily. A United States Flag Code was adopted in 1923 and has been amended numerous times since then. You can learn many interesting facts about our flag at USA.GOV/flag. Most relevant for the general public are: flags should only be flown from sun up to sun down; if a flag is flown at night, it should be well illuminated; a flag should not be flown in inclement weather unless it is an all- weather flag; and faded or tattered flags should be replaced out of respect. Both Lowe's and Home Depot sell a variety of flags as do many websites. You can dispose of a worn flag in the red box outside of our Golf Pro Shop. Show your civic pride. Celebrate freedom and liberty. Fly our flag! Fly the Flag
