| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2023 | 9 As some of you are aware, Four Seasons is 20 years old this year. While this lets us enjoy the benefit of having mature trees, the downside is that we have landscaped areas showing age – and not in a good way. Plants have a life span where they look good and are a benefit to us all. Plants are no different than paint, carpet, etc., in our homes. They need to be changed as they age and pruned to keep them controlled. The Landscape Committee oversaw the re-landscaping of the pool area several years ago - and those changes have made it into the resort-like setting that we enjoy today. At the present time, our committee is considering other areas of the community that could also benefit from re-landscaping. Several areas are being proposed due to the age/condition of the plant material. These areas include: the original Legends model homes on Eagle Lane, and refurbishing/upgrading the plaza area behind The Lodge. The committee is also looking at re- landscaping lawn areas that are small and difficult to maintain, as well as reducing the use of potable water. We recently submitted for the Board's approval two projects: The Paseo along the East Legends and the Singh Basin. As part of the proposal, we have applied for rebates from the Eastern Metropolitan Water District and the City of Hemet that will offset the cost of these projects. Both projects involve removing the grass, redoing the irrigation systems, planting waterwise plants, and adding mulch. It is anticipated that these areas will use less water and will require less landscape maintenance from our landscaper, Artistic Maintenance. We hope to hear if we are successful in our application for the rebates in the coming months. The continuing replacement of plants is an ongoing concern for our committee. If you, as a resident, would like to share your likes and dislikes about our community's landscaping, consider attending a Landscape Committee meeting and express your thoughts. You may also fill out a resident request form about any concerns you have about landscaping. Like the lovely poppies in front of The Lodge, our committee is growing and blossoming! We'd like to extend a warm welcome to our two newest committee members: Patty Gaudreau and Carol Ferber. They both bring great energy and new ideas to the Four Seasons Landscape Committee.
