50 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2023 Quilting Enthusiasts April showers are suppose to bring May flowers. I do believe that we have had enough rain, more than enough rain to give us all a stunning show of May flowers this year. I just returned from a trip to Texas where the blue bonnets and Indian paint brush were blooming in the fields and along the roadways. Beautiful to see and enjoy, the California poppies and African daisies are, in my opinion, prettier and brighter! Now for news from the Four Seasons Quilting Enthusiasts: Last month, Mary taught the members how to do foundation piecing on paper. See the images below. We had a great show-and-tell from another member, Glenda Timms, who shared with us her beautiful scrap quilt. At the May meeting, Mary will teach Quilt-As-You-Go. Pictures will follow. The group learned that Sulli Hayek, the granddaughter of residents Penny and Rainey Cunard, was recently diagnosed with leukemia. The group gave her a quilt made by Sally Peterson, as a way to keep her wrapped in love during treatments. The Quilting Enthusiasts continue to welcome all who want to learn, sit and sew, or just learn more about what we do. We meet on the second Thursday of each month in Craft Room 2, at The Lodge, from 1 to 4 pm. Our meetings are informal and there will be classes offered from time to time. We sincerely hope that you will join us sometime! Peace through quilting. For info, contact me at (808) 430-7469, or via email, 4seasonsquilters@gmail.com. ~ Mary M. Moody-Cox Ceramics Class Happy Mother's Day! Ceramics Class has something for the novice crafter who is looking for a new hobby and a crafter who has experience and wants to create unique designs or pieces for friends and family. In addition to individual projects, throughout the year we offer class projects to teach new techniques. Come and join in the fun. Drop by the Arts & Crafts Room to see our monthly ceramics class schedule and learn more about our upcoming class projects. We meet Wednesdays from 1 to 4 pm. Please see the class schedule for any exceptions. A certified instructor and/or an experienced team lead is available to support your crafting needs. Participation is at your own pace and frequency. Call Loretta Ramsey at (714) 803-6744 or Brenda Ystrom at (909) 910-1100 for more information. ~ Brenda Ystrom Crafty Cardmakers The Crafty Cardmakers meet on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. We make three cards, cards for all occasions, and you only need to bring your own glue and scissors. The cost is $10 to cover materials. Your cards include envelopes and will be ready to mail. We have a wonderful group of participants and would love to have you at our next class. If you would like to be part of the group, call or email me with your name, phone number, and email address to be put on our monthly emails. If you plan to come to class, please RSVP to Patty Grana at Granamemories@roadrunner.com or call (626) 862-2652 by the Tuesday before the class so we will have enough kits for everyone! ~ Maryalice Chorba Knit & Crochet Group We meet Tuesday mornings from 10 until 11:30 am in the Arts & Crafts Room.
