38 | LIFE IN SOLERA | MAY 2023 | GOLF CLUB With May here, we are holding our Annual Memorial Golf Tournament on May 23 at Oak Valley Golf Club. The tournament honors those former Solera Golf Club members who have passed away. The format will be a four-person scramble. The Club Championship stroke play event will be played on consecutive weeks June 13 and 20. This stroke play event will have winners for both gross and net scores. Last month, we continued our Match Play Championship as we move on to round two on the 4th; round three on the 11th; semi-finals on the 18th; and finals on the 25th. Those players not advancing in Match Play can look forward to playing a variety of games each week. March started out with low gross and net games. Alan Forbes was the low gross winner while net score had two flights. Tony Smith and Ed Young won their respective flights. There was also a fewest putts category which was won by T Smith. Our next event's game was gross and net skins. John Dockery, Bob Ardis and Stan Whitesel took gross skins honors. Whitesel, Merele Chapman, Ardis, and Armand Silva won in the net skins group. The atmospheric river kept the golfers from playing in week three. The start of Match Play closed out the month with winners Young, Dave Sampson, Marty Anderson, Brad McDuffee, Alan Forbes, Rod Fry, Mark Hardy, Gary Stange and Tom Hamerla winning to advance to the second round. Match Play round two winners were David Scott, Bob Umeck, Sampson, Anderson, Forbes, Hardy, and T Smith. Congratulations to the all the players mentioned above. GOLFERS WANTED! Men and women are welcome to come and play golf with our Solera Golf Club. The goal is to have fun no matter what your skill level is. We play each Tuesday morning at different courses. We'd love it if you would like to join us for a round or two before deciding if you would like to join us on a regular basis. You can contact Jim Karalun at (951) 769-2535 for more information. Now that the rains have subsided, the bocce ball courts have drained and the flamingo has vacated the area, we should be able to resume bocce ball activities. Our current schedule is to play Sundays at 4 pm. Please call Dorothy Hoffecker at (951) 217- 5357 for more information. SUNDAY EVENING BOCCE Please come join us for a fun free-form fitness group.
