I am thankful for the recent rains which have contributed to the beautiful flora and scenic mountain views. Our lawns couldn't look any better with the watering they have had this year. Adding to that beauty, the Ad-Hoc Decorating Committee has been providing us with attractive décor throughout the Main Clubhouse reflecting the changing seasons and holidays. Many thanks for their talents and creativity. May started us off with a variety of events and celebrations. We began with cleaning out those garages for our annual Spring Garage Sales and a Community Shredding Day to dispose of confidential information. Our entertainment for Fridays and Saturdays on the Veranda kicked off with our Cinco de Mayo DJ. Our own Renee Rojanaro returns to entertain us the first Wednesday of each month through our summer series. Join us for our Ice Cream Social Summer kick-off at the Sandwedge on Mon., June 12 at 2 pm. Bring $3 (cash only). May was a successful month for our Restaurant which served our community with a Cinco de Mayo Brunch that was delicious. And the Mother's Day Brunch was outstanding. Thanks to our Chef and Restaurant staff for their hard work and culinary talents. We had several concerts that were fun and great entertainment. The Diamond is Forever concert was a great Vegas-style show that showcased five decades of Neil Diamond music. The Motown Madness concert was sold out. Thanks to our chef and staff for providing appetizers for purchase at this event. The Jazzy Summer Afternoon Concert was canceled and rescheduled for another date to be announced. Sun Lakers, enjoy your pools and walkways and join us on the Veranda for an evening of music and dancing and a scoop of ice cream. If you have any suggestions for future events, please notify your Recreation Advisory Committee by leaving your suggestion in the box located next to the Main Clubhouse reception desk marked "Management Suggestions" or contact me by phone or text; my contact information is in the Lifestyles Magazine. If you are interested in coming to one of our meetings, we meet the first Wednesday of the month at 2 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. For more detailed information on tours and events, you can pick up a flyer in the foyer at the Main Clubhouse or check out these available resources: Lifestyles Magazine, Sun Lakes website, and Channel 97. ~ Gloria Pena, glolizpena@gmail.com | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2023 | 19 Sun Lakes Committee Reports Recreation Advisory The Restaurant & Lounge Advisory Committee is comprised of volunteer members each with varied skill sets and business backgrounds. Flowers are blooming, the weather is warming up. It's time to go outdoors and our Veranda is the perfect spot. You've all heard of a Tequila Sunrise. Our talented mixologist Matt is introducing some tequila cocktails, Sun Lakes style… try a Sun Lakes Sunset, Razzberri Rita, Tropical Twister, Mango Madness, or a Paloma. All drinks may be made virgin. Delight in our weekend entertainment and try something special from Chef Chris's fabulous Veranda hors d'oeuvres menu. Mark your calendars for Father's Day, June 18. Call (951) 769-6654 to make your reservations. Chef Chris is changing things up this year. Dads deserve to enjoy their special day with those they love. Chef is preparing a spectacular brunch with all the stations and selections you know and love including eggs Benedict, omelets, waffles, chef 's carving station, and a BBQ station so dad doesn't have to sweat over the grill. Of course, every special event must have a grand finale so after brunch, head on over to the ice cream sundae bar and build your own. Don't forget the cherry on top. To attend, you must RSVP and have a prepaid ticket for this event. Father's Day toasts to all the perfectly imperfect dads: • Being a dad isn't easy… but when somebody does it right, it reminds the rest of us what a world-changing difference a good dad can make. ~ Andrew Blackburn • The best gift a man can give to the world is to be a good father. ~ Renee Daniels • A father is the perfect blend of superhero, coach, and friend. ~ Jeannie Hund • It is much easier to become a father than to be one. • Any man can be a father but it takes someone special to be a DAD. • My father didn't tell me how to live, he lived, and let me watch him do it. • The best dads get promoted to granddad. Don't forget… Sunday Brunch is offered the last Sunday every month. Reservations are required. For more information, call the Restaurant during normal business hours at (951) 769-6654. ~ Carole Elliott Restaurant & Lounge Advisory
