Art Lovers We hope you will take the time to see the beautiful paintings in the Art Studio. They will be gone on July 1. If you would like to have a little fun while doing so, we have come up with an "I Spy with My Little Eye" list for you. Here they are for you to find: Two shy fish. A beach fence. A sleeping lion. Humming along. Mystic but not pizza. Sunglasses. A realtor's signature. A pupil. More than a dozen palm trees. Stripes and splashes. Eyelashes. And now we want to know how you did! But there are no prizes to be won, it's just for fun. If you are a painter of any kind and we haven't shown your work, (because we don't know you) please contact us. We don't judge and we enjoy all different kinds of Art! It's easy to call Lainy Vinikow or Judy Harris. 30 | OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2023 | Art Studio As the owner of Lizz Lang Art Services, one of Lizz Lang's biggest jobs was to display baseball legend Tony Gwynn's huge collection of sports memorabilia. Lizz gave us several ideas on how to arrange our collections. She said that most museums hang paintings with the eye level at about 58 inches. She believes that the most comfortable height for most people is from 60 to 64 inches. Lizz said that vertical art work should be spaced farther apart than horizontal pieces in groupings. Jacqueline and David Ettinger gave us a very interesting slide show of their art collections which feature many paintings and books about Pop artists. The Pop Art movement emerged in the UK in the fifties and challenged the traditions of fine art by including imagery of popular culture such as advertising, comics and mass production objects. The Ettingers showed us slides of some Andy Warhol prints as well as artists Brian Donnelly (KAWS), James Rizzi, Burton Morris and others. Above, a portrait of Keith Haring by Craig Alan is composed completely of drawings of very tiny people. Craig Alan is an American contemporary artist best known for his paintings on which the groups of people seen down from the top are arranged in a certain way to form portraits of famous persons such as Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, John F. Kennedy as well of city scenes. We are planning another trip to the Fallbrook Art Center to see their 14th Annual World of Watercolor and Beyond. In operation for over 20 years, the Fallbrook Art Center is a distinguished, accessible, and welcoming nonprofit visual arts center. Our president, Susan Pick, and her husband, Ernie, recently returned from an exciting trip to Egypt. Near Cairo they walked up and down the largest pyramid without railings, saw huge stone carvings in Abu Simmbel, cruised the Nile, and visited King Tut's and Ramses' tombs in Luxor. Soon we will announce the date when the Picks will tell us about their trip, all the historic sites, incredible hieroglyphics and figure paintings they saw. To learn more about our Art Lovers Club and our activities, please visit our website, https://ohccartlovers.wixsite.com/art-lovers. You can also contact Susan Pick at (760) 305-8907 or erniepick@ netzero. net.
