| THE COLONY NEWS | JULY 2023 | 31 Karaoke By Ken Luekens It's time for an update on Colony Karaoke. As some of you know, our current Karaoke DJ, Bonnie Graham, has plans to move. Never fear. She has trained a successor, Ann Luekens, who is ready to go. So, Karaoke will be on as scheduled from 6:15 to 9 pm on the first and third Tuesdays of each month in the Auditorium. Some things to know: • It's open to everyone, even for (or especially for?) folks who just want to be there. Guests are welcome. Have a drink, share a snack, BYO everything, but it is free. The atmosphere is casual, like a Cheers Bar. If you want to get a timely reminder for each gathering, send your email to Jeri Huestis at jjhuey@aol.com. • If you want to sing, send your song choices to Connie O'Brien at obriencr@verizon.net. • There are over 60,000 songs in the jukebox. If you want to see the list of available songs, send an email request to Ken Luekens at kluekens@gmail.com. The list is not easily downloadable, but it is available online. Ken can tell you how to view the list. Hope to see you soon at Karaoke. Don't miss out! The watercolor class workshop with Bob Straubinger of Hemet of the Valley Art Association and Hemet Art Gallery was a wonderful success. Everyone enjoyed painting their bumble bees and learning Bob's technique to show the fuzzy bee. One main attraction was Bob's humorous magic act. A lot of education came with this workshop, along with the importance of having fun. Bob also had several giveaways that were useful to old and new members alike, who continue to build their art supply. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this class such a success. Bob hopes to return in October for a workshop in card making. We return to our regular watercolor classes in July. You are welcome to bring a painting project of your choice or to paint along with the subject chosen for the month. I'll see you in class the last Thursday of each month in the Annex from 9 am to 12:30 pm. Keep painting!
