| THE COLONY NEWS | JULY 2023 | 33 Ladies Golf By Judy Lebovitz, 951-461-0065 Looks like summer is finally here. We golfers are hoping for a not too terribly hot summer, but we never know. Starting in July, we will be teeing off at 7:30 am. We are planning to have our annual charity tournament in October but that all depends on the golf course situation, so things are still on hold for that. However, even if we don't do the tournament, we still donate to our two charities, Hospice of the Valley and Michelle's Place. The ladies hope we can have the tournament and be able to have guests join us to play. Our annual Awards Luncheon was held June 6. Congratulations to our new Club Champion, Anita Hoetker! Annette Lalicker won Ace of the Year for the Low Handicappers, and Sherry Roberts won High Handicap Ace of the Year. Pictures below are of all the winners and our club champ. Congratulations to all these ladies! We recently added a new member to the 9-hole group. If you are interested in joining or learning more about our club, please contact Membership Chair, Peggy Clendenen, at 951-696-2169. There are many wonderful and friendly players, and we play different games each week. We hope you will join us on the course! Men's Golf By Sam Currie, 951-461-0801 A big thank you to all who supported our June Pancake Breakfast and made it such a successful and enjoyable event. In fact, we had a record attendance of close to 340! And a big thanks also to all the volunteers, with a special shout-out to those in the kitchen who did such a good job in preparing the great pancakes and sausages for the hungry diners. Of course, income from these breakfasts is used to help provide funding for our scholarship program for Murrieta High School athletes. Each year our Scholarship Chairman, Dennis Murphy, contacts the Sports departments of Murrieta's three high schools (Mesa, Vista and Valley) to provide us with names of potential candidates. Scholarship amounts are provided to the chosen candidates who meet specific educational standards and are college bound. Why not join us and become a member of the CMGC?
