20 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2023 Our June 2023 meeting at The Lodge Ballroom featured Andrea Merrill, Environmental Health Technician from the Department of Environmental Health, County of Riverside. Andrea spoke about two mosquito species not native to California that are spreading throughout the state. They are of concern because they bite aggressively during the day and are capable of transmitting diseases, including Zika virus, dengue, Chikungunya virus, West Nile virus, and Yellow Fever. As Andrea said, early detection can control them. Thank you Andrea Merrill for a very informative presentation. For additional information, please contact Andrea Merrill at ARMerrill@rivco.org or (951) 766-9454. On July 12, 2023 Dr. Karan Singh, Chief Medical Officer for San Gorgonio Hospital will be our guest speaker. He will discuss the vision of San Gorgonio Hospital, and the current medical issues our community is facing. Dr. Singh has been a guest speaker here before, and has provided excellent information in his presentations. He is extremely busy and in high demand as a speaker, so we were fortunate our Steering Committee was able to get him scheduled for a presentation in The Lodge Ballroom at 10 am. Then on Aug. 9 at 10 am in The Lodge Ballroom, we will have a representative from Homeland Security to discuss how to avoid becoming a victim of scams, and will actually cover various types of scams that specifically target the elderly population. The representative will be presenting a slide show during the presentation. Please put the dates on your schedules and plan to attend these informative presentations. Thank you to our Block Captains and to our Neighborhood Watch members for all you do to keep our community safe. Please slow down, stop at stop signs, and yield to vehicles in the roundabouts. The speed limit on Four Seasons Circle is 30 mph, 25 mph on residential streets, including Green Creek Trail, and 15 mph in alleyways and parking lots. We have had several motor vehicle accidents where the vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole, tree and, on occasion, both. Luckily, no one has been injured, but the potential for serious injury is real. Please be careful when driving through our beautiful community. ~ Jerry Monahan, (951) 212-8898 Neighborhood Watch & Community Awareness
