38 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2023 The month of July will feature two of everyone's favorite dances, Country Western Two Step and Country Swing. What is the difference between country swing and two-step? Two step requires a large dance floor or race track style floor where you can make your way around the outside. Most dance floors simply don't have that much space. On the other hand, country swing can be performed in a space of about 4' x 4', which you can find at most places. "ROMAN HOLIDAY" DINNER AND DANCE It's time for our annual Summer Fun Dinner Dance on Aug. 5. Get your tickets. This year's theme is "Roman Holiday." There will be a live band, catered pasta-station dinner, decorations, raffles, photo opportunities, and of course all types of dancing. This is one of our two extravaganza events for the year. You do not want to miss it. We have some surprises planned for this event. The band American Made is a four-piece, energetic group that plays a wide variety of American music. The music includes classic rock, country, R&B, oldies, swing, blues, and top 40. There is something for everyone. This is a BYOB event, so please feel free to bring your favorite libation. There will be great raffles so please bring extra $$$. Tickets are $40 each, same as last year which includes the dinner and the dance with a live band. Please watch for updates on the bulletin screens in The Lodge, plus the Activities Blast. For further ticket information, contact Brian Fusilier at (909) 215- 2778, Cheryl Fusilier at (951) 236-8206, Lisa Johnson at (714) 322-8877, Margi Spies at (818) 489-1279, or Lori Crosse at (805) 660-8521. We meet in The Lodge Ballroom every Monday evening with FREE open practice and review from 6 to 6:30 pm. Beginner class is from 6:30 to 7 pm with intermediate class from 7 to 8 pm. The cost is $10 per person for professional instruction and you are welcome to stay for the entire session. The instructors are flexible and adjust to the needs of the class. For more information, please contact Brian Fusilier at (909) 215- 2778 or Lisa Johnson at (714) 322-8877. See you on the dance floor. ~ Lisa Johnson Country Line Dancing Everyone had a great time dancing the night away at our Dance Party on June 10. By the end of the evening, the dancers were tired but happy, even though some had sore feet. When you love to dance, you have a hard time sitting out even one song. Once the music begins, you just have to get up and dance. Why do people love line dancing so much? You do not have a partner to lead you or that you must follow. Once you learn some basic steps, those steps are used in many songs, just in a different order. But everyone learns at a different pace and some steps are harder to grasp. The key is to practice each step over and over until it is fixed in your memory. Although I am leaving at the end of the year, I've decided to teach one more very-beginner class. It will be a 30-minute class beginning Aug. 1 at 3:30 pm in The Lodge Ballroom. It will be a five-week class. I will teach you one step at a time for each dance. All dances will be beginner dances concentrating on the basic steps of line dancing. At the end of five weeks, I will decide if the class needs to be extended. Whether you only want to learn the two basic dances for a wedding or party or want to start and go on to more line dances, this class will teach you the basic steps. Please call or text me if you are interested in the class. Hope to see you on the dance floor. ~ Martha Franck, marthafranck@icloud.com, (714) 345-8588 Let's Dance!
