| OHCC LIVING | JULY 2023 | 33 Hello Ocean Hills! I'm delighted to focus this month's article once again on Group 5, our newest papercraing group. is time I have pictures of their smiling faces to go along with the article and their beautiful cards. While at the Clubhouse recently, I asked if I could join them and take some pictures. e three pictures you see here were taken that day. I was amazed to see how much more confident and how precise their work had become, compared to creations completed earlier. Of course, this is what happens when you get inspired while learning from experts. It makes you want to learn even more! And in no small part, their enthusiasm is commensurate with the inspiration they've enjoyed each week from their master craer instructors: Rhonda Anchales and Irma Ojeda. Two techniques they've learned recently include: heat embossing and glazing, demonstrated by these napkin cards. Aer this month, these craers will be joining the other four papercraing groups in our club and the summer slowdown will commence. But papercraing doesn't go on hiatus for summer. Something not well known about Papercraing: It's one of the most portable hobbies enjoyed by craers. Much like knitting and crocheting, one can do papercraing anywhere: on the road, while visiting and vacationing, while watching TV or talking on the phone. You can go to friends' homes to share supplies and learn new skills or get out your device and learn a new technique on Pinterest or YouTube. But come fall, Clubhouse craing will be going strong again as most return from vacation. Photos: Smiling members at right are Rhonda Anchales, Gail Alvonso, Jan Feintuck, Marsha Locke, Maggie Khanbabayan, Irma Ojeda and Nancy Combs. Not pictured, but the creator of all four cards: Vicki Dibble. Moral of the third photo (at top): If you can't stand the mess, get out of the cra room! To our members celebrating July birthdays, let the fireworks begin for our Ruby collectors! Congratulations, and Happy Birthday, all month long to Donna Stone, Joanne Viner, and JoAnne Miller! Remember, the cards you create should be shared not hoarded. Scan it or take a picture if you love it but then send it on to someone who needs it more! Make someone's day by sending a card from you, out of the blue. And don't forget that belated cards are actually very much appreciated, especially if snail mail failed on the actual date of celebration. It's never too late to send a card. Happy Fourth of July all you patriots and proud Americans! I'm so happy to see those stars and stripes on lawns, cars, flagpoles, golf carts, lapels, and hats of many in our community. And don't they look just grand on the front of a card. To find out more about what's being celebrated in the month of July go to: https://nationaltoday.com/july-holidays/ And, don't forget, there's a paper-decorated Golf Cart Parade coming to a street near you. ~ Respectfully Submitted by Debbie Cea, Papercraing President Papercrafting Club
