So that you feel comfortable with the chair yoga class, please feel free to attend your first class for FREE. If you would like to continue the class it is $5 per class. Cheryl Todd is an experienced, certified, yoga teacher, (E-CYT), specializing in gentle and chair yoga and functional fitness for seniors. She has enjoyed helping her participants learn how to feel their best through yoga and movement for over 22 years. Her goal is to make fitness more approachable and yoga more accessible for people of all ages and abilities to experience the benefits that mindful movement provides. Before discovering yoga, Cheryl enjoyed working in urgent care as a front and back office medical assistant and as a traveling nurse assistant working mainly with seniors in their homes and assisted living facilities. She was also trying to cope with her own battle with Fibromyalgia, which eventually le her unable to continue her work. Looking back, Cheryl considers her battle as a blessing in disguise, because it brought her to yoga and yoga brought her back to life! She started her yoga journey with yoga therapy and knew she found something that worked on relieving her symptoms. When she felt stronger, she started practicing gentle yoga and over time she was able to regain her strength and take back control of her life. She knew she had to share the many benefits of yoga with others and began her yoga teacher training, eventually receiving her first certification in classical hatha yoga in 2001. roughout the following years, with extensive study, practice, teaching, and training, her certifications include yoga therapy, adaptive, gentle, chair, and senior yoga, yoga chair dance, functional fitness, and personal yoga trainer. She has enjoyed teaching private instruction and group classes in a variety of studios and corporate offices. She offers a nurturing, non-intimidating, gentle way to keep the mind and body in shape! In addition to her three chair yoga classes each week in the OHCC Clubhouse at 11:15 am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for one hour each, you can find her on Youtube.com/@ chairyogawithcheryltodd. ~ Secretary, Carol Farrell, (760) 842 8352, bandcfarrell@gmail.com. | OHCC LIVING | JULY 2023 | 47 Following a three-year COVID hiatus, the Billiards Club has published a new Calendar of Events featuring beginning and advanced lessons, tournaments, and special events. Despite 8-Ball being our most popular game, there is oen confusion about the rules. Not aer this lesson! It's for: • Beginners who simply want to know how to play the game. • Intermediate players who would like to pick up some new strategies. • Experienced players who think they know all the rules. Few indeed will be able to say, "I knew it all." e word "tournament" oen invokes images of ruthless competition among hard-hearted hustlers. Not here! Our tournaments are friendly social activities, designed to help players learn new games and connect with new people. at's especially true of our 8-Ball Practice Tournament. On urs., July 13 at 1:30 pm, we invite our newer and less experienced players to take part in a no-pressure, just-for-fun practice tournament playing 8-Ball. is is a chance to see how a tournament is run, and what it feels like to compete and test your skills against others. Best of all, you'll have the chance to make new friends and find playing partners. Regular tournaments begin on urs., July 27 at 1:30 pm with Tournament #1: Team 8-Ball. It will have teams comprising one A and one B player. Since A and B players take turns, they oen need to make joint decisions on the next shot. is is a valuable opportunity for B players to find out how the more experienced A players approach the game. e winning team members will have their photo featured right here in OHCC Living magazine for their friends and family to admire. ey will also win some cash. And become IMMORTAL, with their names engraved in brass on the Billiards Club Wall of Champions! Sound like fun? Join us for a mere $7, less than one hour in a disreputable pool hall.
