| OHCC LIVING | JULY 2023 | 5 Golf Course Renovation Report Golf Course: Jon Cancel has aerified the collars on the greens. We will soon see the Bermuda Grass take over the Poa Grass on those collars, and they will be what we expected to see aer the renovation. It takes several days of sun for the Bermuda Grass to thrive. VDLA reports that the Bermuda in Palm Springs is beautiful. Our weather is about to turn and give us the sun we need to make the Bermuda Grass thrive. We have applied herbicides and weed killers on the fairways and they are looking good. We have reseeded some of the bare areas as well. ey are stump grinding the trees that were removed on #3 and #9 as well. All the parts are in for the irrigation of the landscaped areas on the slopes. ere are about 25 of those stub outs and Jon Cancel has finished the first six this week. We will continue until we can irrigate the whole area. e Landscape Committee will be working on plans for the re-planting of these areas. Lake: Bristlecone Engineering is now doing a topographical survey of the entire golf course. is survey will give us precise elevations for the course. ese elevations will form the basis for the excavation plans for the lake. ey will also give us the verification that Candyl Golf built the golf course the way Morgan Golf designed it, and the way we approved it. As you would expect, this complete survey should have been done by Candyl Golf but of course he refused to do it. Bristlecone Engineering has done some work for us before, and we found that they are very thorough and detailed. is topographical survey will also help us when we convert the "fingers" of residential grass to irrigation by well water aer the golf course is complete. As you know, that is a large amount of grass and will amount to a large savings in water purchased whether we leave it in grass or convert some of it to drought tolerant plants. e survey helps either way. is survey will allow the completion of the lake plans so they can be submitted to the City of Oceanside for our permit. Electrical: Berg Electric and VDLA are assembling all the documents the City of Oceanside requested for our submittal for the electrical permit. at submittal should take place in June. Berg will start work on bringing up all the cable and conduit to the lake site from the transformer site near Leisure Village Way at the Park before we start construction on the lake. at cable will be terminated at the lake site until the pad is installed for the lake pumps, and fertigation equipment. en the connection will be made to the lake pumps and well pump. We have good contractors in Pacific Aquascape, Berg Electric, Bristlecone Engineering, Well-Tec, and OCLM. It is much more professional and productive to work with this group to complete all the requirements to finish this job. We don't have to fight a middleman, so the work is proceeding like it should on a project of this size and complexity. ank you all for your support on this important project for our community. By Don Lopez, Golf Course Renovation Committee Chairman
