30 | LIFE IN SOLERA | JULY 2023 |
BON APPETIT CLUB
Hopefully everyone had a good time at last month's meeting with
LOT22. Shazi, Ilene, and Lauren did a great job of teaching us about
olive oils and balsamic vinegars. FUN FACT: an olive tree can live to
be 300-600 years old. They talked about the health benefits of cooking
with olive oil to how to use it as a beauty product. We sampled a
variety of olive oils then combined the oil with
balsamic vinegar to taste on foods. One favorite
combination was putting either a gala apple or
maple balsamic vinegar on vanilla ice. It was
yummy.
At our July 7 meeting, Chef Noel will be
demonstrating three different types of easy
salads for the summer. Afterward, members will
have a light lunch of salad, bread, and assorted
cookies. The cost is $5 per person to offset the
cost of the food.
We are still planning an August event and
more information will be coming at next
month's meeting. Future meetings include a
demonstration by Julissa from Beaumont High
School Culinary program; a Chili Cook-off; and
How to Prepare a Charcuterie Board.
Please make sure to RSVP when you plan on
attending our monthly meetings so we have
enough seating setup and/or food.
