GOLF CLUB
The first week of June started out with a couple of noteworthy
performances on the course at Yucaipa Valley. Manuel Magdaleno
started by getting his first ace in golf. This occurred on the 8th
hole and as Mag described it he used an 8 iron and his tee shot was
about a foot left of the flag stick when it landed on the green and
then hopped to the right and into the cup to get that coveted hole-in-
one! Then, in the three best ball team event, Tournament Director
Jim Parker noted that "Marty Anderson-Tony Smith-Richard Crowe-
Jerry Stearn put the hammer down and walked away with First Place
by 8 shots. Wow!" Truly another outstanding performance.
In the foursome game of two best ball game, the winners with an
-8 team score were John Dockery, Jaime Maciel, Ernie Salvador,and
Jim Karalun. In the Gross Skins game Jerry Stearn led the way with
two skins and there was a four way tie in Net Skins with Merele
Chapman, Stan Whitesel, Stu Osborne and Ed Young each snagging a
skin. In May, Whitesel and Chapman's 63 won the twosome best ball
game. Starting off these recent rounds of games, Bob Umeck's 82
won Low Gross, Gary Stange's 70 was atop the leader board in Flight
A, while Karalun's 73 took honors in Flight B. Congratulations to all
the winners.
The Solera Golf Club welcomes our newest member, Arden Bates,
into the group. Be sure to look him up and introduce yourself.
Now that we are heading into summer, we will begin playing at 7 pm on Sundays. If I don't
