36 | OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2023 | On a sunny aernoon, aer weeks of May gray and June gloom, the Palm Court was transformed into a "Life is a Beach" theme. e tables were gaily decorated with colorful beach balls, palm leaves, shells and sunglasses. 120 lei-bedecked members of the club gathered to eat, drink, dance and listen to live music. Jan Kawal and her Social Committee outdid themselves setting the mood, preparing fresh fruit skewers, and providing sandwiches and snacks and a party atmosphere. Lively music for listening and dancing was provided by RV Club members Lawrence Aiken, Tim Griffin, and Brad Davidson. Conversations reliving past RV travels as well as anticipated new RV adventures for this year, were some of the hot topics. Several of our members have committed to long RV trips this summer. Ron and Meddy Carso are making a summer of it with a carefully planned trip lasting more than three months. e Carso's will be traveling with Bob and Barbara Becker to the Midwest where they and Jo and Roger Marr will join commercial tour company, Fantasy Tours, for an adventure trip around the Great Lakes. Aer the tour, they will travel through Western Canada and down into Idaho and Montana. e Marr's will join a Fantasy Tour trip to Calgary including the Stampede and Banff. Meanwhile, Chris and Donna Butler will be attending a sports car rally in Calgary, as he is an MGB owner and enthusiast. Dick and Karen Stewart will be driving their 5th wheel to Indiana. ey will spend time at the factory and help design the custom layout for their new 5th wheel, which will be delivered to them next year. Bill and Sandy Jones will be spending time in Idaho while attending a large family reunion. In upcoming events, the Social Committee has arranged a "Day at the Races" for Aug. 17 which will include transportation, lunch and admission to Del Mar Race Track. A much-anticipated RV trip to Lake Tahoe is scheduled for Aug. 19-25. A large group will be attending the Albuquerque Balloon Festival Oct. 12 -16 with many interesting stops en route to New Mexico. e next membership meeting is Sept. 26 in the Hall.
