36 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2023 | e summer party, Party-A-Lot, was held in the RV Parking lot this year. It was a lively affair planned and executed superbly by Jan Kawal and the Social Committee. e Habit Burger Grill truck provided the food, while Courtney Flowers and "Cool Rush" played familiar songs for listening and dancing on the blacktop. Homemade cookies baked in the shape of a camp trailer were sugary, delicious and whimsical. One of the interesting parts of this gathering is the "RV Open House." Six RV owners lined up their rigs for all to visit. ere was a variety of rigs; from a nicely appointed Mercedes Sprinter van conversion to a hi-tech 21 Travel Trailer to a comfy 24 RV mounted on a Fort F-450 chassis, a roomy 29 class A and going up to a multi-slided 42 Diesel pusher. Two of the large rigs had an additional half bath and were fitted with built-in washer/ dryer units. All the RVs had clever use of space, advanced technology and imaginative functionality. It was fun viewing them all side-by-side, chatting with the owners about their driving and living experiences with each different type of RV. ere truly is something for everybody! Summer travels for Club members Jo and Roger Marr, Barbara and Bob Becker and Meddy and Ron Carso led them to meet up at Niagara Falls (Canadian side) to join a Fantasy Tour around the Great Lakes region. Aer touring the falls, they did a city tour of vibrant Toronto, then across Canada to Sault Ste. Marie and back into Upper Michigan, touching Lake Superior, then into Wisconsin and down the west side of Lake Michigan through Green Bay and Milwaukee to Chicago. Highlights along the way were the giant hydroelectric plant at Niagara, an interesting bush plane museum, the original eight square block Pabst Blue Ribbon beer factory and museum, the Harley Davidson factory and museum and a tour of historic Lambeau Field, home of the legendary Green Bay Packers. Along with beautiful scenery and friendly people, it was a great trip. Leaving Chicago, they took different routes across the USA and/or thru Canada for more adventures to eventual get back to OHCC. e next RV Club trip is the Albuquerque Balloon Festival Oct. 12 - 16. November brings the Hemet anksgiving trip Nov. 11-15. Regular membership meetings resume on Sept. 26 in Abravanel Hall. Trip sign-up and social time at 6:30 pm followed by regular meeting at 7 pm.
