| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2023 | 3 As we rolled into August, a heat wave came in at the same time and continued for the entire month. There has been increased usage of the outdoor pools during the hot weather. This has prompted the Board to reinstate the use of monitors at the Main Clubhouse Pool. The primary times will be from 9 am to 3 pm to monitor use during the 10 am to 2 pm "kid's hours." REMINDER: Children under three years of age are not allowed in the pools at any time and NO DIAPERS of any kind are allowed. Also, dogs are not allowed in the pool area. The Lounge expansion project is now in the architectural stage. Once completed with this stage, we will be able to put out to bid for final costing. Currently, we are expected to begin the project in January 2024. The transformation of the Sandwedge "lunch counter" into a full-service bar will be complete in time to host Monday Night Football on Sept. 11 at the new Sandwedge Bar & Grill. This area will also be used during the Lounge expansion project and available for private parties through the Restaurant. Beginning in late September, and possibly sooner, year two of our paving management plan will begin. Our five-year plan is delayed one year due to Covid-related delays. District 7 will be on this year's plan along with re-striping of parking lots. Keep your eyes open for more information as to street closures. Street sweeping has started back up in the community. The second and fourth Thursday of each month the sweepers will clean the entire community. The Board will continue to look for more efficient methods of cleaning the streets. If you have an issue or concern that you would like to be addressed, please utilize Message to Management. There is a box at the reception desk in the Main Clubhouse and an icon on the website for notifying FirstService Residential (FSR). Our management team has reported only receiving one or two per day. Soon you will be receiving a ballot regarding a CC&R change that is called the "Reserve Replenishment Assessment." As you will hear from the Board, Marketing Committee, town halls, and all our other media, this is an assessment that will positively affect all homeowners. There is NO cost to existing homeowners. This assessment has been successfully implemented in other HOA communities. If approved, this could increase our annual income for the HOA by approximately $400,000 annually. FSR and the Master Board are currently working on our 2024 annual budget. Our first budget directive is to keep our assessment as realistic as possible while focusing on a cost/benefit analysis for all future projects. The most important matter impacting our 2024 budget will be the ballot measure authorizing the reserve and replacement assessment. Recently, we have been experiencing disruptive behavior from some of our membership at the open Board meetings and the District Delegate meetings. We need to treat each other with respect and dignity. We may not agree with all the decisions made, but this Board is focused on doing what is most beneficial for our residents. The election campaigns are over and we are all in this journey together, and together, we should all be concentrating on doing what is best for our beautiful SLCC community.
