Where did pickleball get its name? Good question, and that all depends on who you ask! e Rowing Boat vs. Dog Story: Story #1 – Congressmen Joel Pritchard's wife, Joan, was a competitive rower. e name of the game became pickleball aer she said it reminded her of the pickle boat in crew where oarsmen were chosen from the leovers of other boats. Story #2 – Two of the families adopted two twin cockapoo puppies, named Lulu and Pickles. Pickles liked to run around and grab the ball as it went into the bushes. As the story goes, they named the game aer the dog Pickles. But the dogs were not adopted until two years aer the game was created. Actually, the dog was named aer the game, not the other way around. e dog story is cute though!
