From the of Desk Kathy C. Stevens
By Kathy C. Stevens, Secretary for the Board of Directors
As I sat down to write my "From the Desk of " I got an email
that the item I ordered for a friend for her birthday is now
backordered. at means I would not have the gi in hand at
her celebration among friends. I had several options – panic,
cancel the order and go out and buy something else, or get mad.
I decided all of those options would take up too much
emotional energy, so I came up with a different solution – I
took a picture of the item and put it in a card. I told my friend
how much I appreciated her friendship, but that her gi would
be delayed. My friend, in all her grace, said "no worries," she
was just glad I was able to come to her birthday celebration.
at experience reminded me that every day we all have
a gazillion choices about how to respond to all the stuff that
happens to us and around us. I am not immune to fits of
frustration, but I am acutely aware of my triggers and really try
to find choices that bring me peace.
ere are lots of things going on in e Colony right now –
some are good, and some may not be good in one's eye. It all
depends on what you focus on.
As Gandhi said, "A man is but the product of his thoughts.
What he thinks, he becomes."
Be well everyone. ~ Kathy
